All of the richest nations on Earth are not Capitalist, Socialist or Communist. They are mixed economies. The US is trying to cling to close to capitalism to survive against a mixed economy, while allowing for unrestrained greed to beat the very people who allow a capitalist system to grow, down.

"NASA well that is just brilliant. Why the hell do we need to know if mars had water on it. All that money they spend on that program could help keep the government workers on a 40 hour week."

Because if we are ever to begin real planning for colonization, we need to know what resources are on Mars. If water once existed on Mars, there is a good chance it still does, just trapped in a frozen state under the dirt as a form of permafrost.

"I know some of the research they have done in past years has been a benefit to us. But Mars is not really providing us a benefit. We to are being hit by this my wife will be missing a day each week as well. But we have been playing this government shut down for years and we keep enough $$$ around to keep us comfortable. I really don't see it having a great effect on mine job."

The are a great many benefits that Nasa has provided us. Just look at Nanotube technology which wouldn't have been developed for any reason other than to make things lighter, if not for the need for space travel.

In truth, no real space exploration may begin until we stop using dumb iron to make our space ships out of, develop space stations which construct said stations and a reusable shuttle.

Why do this? Because you can ship useless people into space and have them mine the asteroids for ore, grow food, ect... on the asteroids. But first, you need to do the research and development.

Oh yes the progressives do say this. But most want that money reinvested into edication and government jobs like NASA.

Me? I would split it.

10% to paying down the debt. 20% to NASA and other tech related research. 30% to edication.

The remaining 40% is kept for R&D for new weapons and or maintains our nuclear strike arm which would be on a intra-net not the Internet. No civilian access of any kind to any part of these dense net.

Tight beam laser communications for this communication network. A which to my understanding makes it almost impossible to intercept.

No more useless wars in places we can't achieve anything, no more helping with military aid people who will turn on us... Right or wrong. We join the civilized nations of the world in peace and the threat of MAD.

I don't know Robert, Secretary of Defense Hagel said that the military complex will be fine. Here is his quote:

"Today, America has the best fighting force in the world capable of responding to any challenge," he told reporters. "This unnecessary budget crisis makes that job much harder. But we will continue to ensure America's security."

I would imagine that he is a bit smarter and more experienced than you will ever be, and as much as I dislike him, I'll take his word over yours.

Besides, literally ALL Progressives that I ever met have been bitching for a while that it's time to shrink our defense budget. So here you go. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Never forget, you DEMANDED this. You got it!

I used the money my father is about to lose as a supporting statement for the damage the sequester will do as government jobs have become the only stable jobs. Now the last bit of stability is gone or weaken, the services my father provided no longer being done, and no civilian counter part.

GE was their counter part on the base. GE went from 10 men to 2. These two men won't keep up with production. As such our war efforts will be damaged as a result of equipment not being maintained.

Yep, my father was a maintainer. He repaired equipment and now he has lost an entire day of work, each week. (not only my father, but everyone in the union)

Guess what? This will only come around to kiss you in the ass as the wealthy are envested into the Military industrial complex... That dies, the US economy dies and right now you just made things harder for all Americans. That means that if the job isn't educating their kids, a police officer, firefighter, or medical, they are going to want it cut so to pay for their welfare.

What this does it worsens my fathers position, but more over hastens the death of the military and the complex of useless industries it supports. This is the ground giving way under the cracks you made in the rock. Prepare for the fall.

Hey, it wasn't I that was complaining, it was you, Robert.

You whined that your father is losing 2K. Well guess what, this is what you supported, now deal with it. Don't complain. Sometimes, when you ask for something you actually get it.

Big difference between my talk and yours. Coming from one who supports the hogs, you look funny being so ignorant of the situation. Coming from one who the hogs sit upon, it is the warning of impending doom.
