"With that stock setting that high on his shoulder two things are going to happen when he pulls the trigger. The stock is going to smack him in the left cheek pretty hard and he will feel a lot of recoil because there is a small amount of surface space of the stock actually on his shoulder. "

Not really. The way Obama is built, he should have an adjustable comb. It would be far worse for him to mount the gun squarely in his shoulder while pushing his neck down and forward.

"The way he is holding the shotgun screams rooky all the way. "

People have all kinds of bad form. The high volume leader for 2010, and 2011 for NSSA is a friend and shoots at my home club. He 'falls' forward off the pad after the shot about 25% of the time.

"Those of us who shoot a lot can look at his posture and tell he hasn't and that this pic is not of him shooting skeet. We know how the clays fly on a skeet range."

Really? This is PRIVATE range. How do you know when the last time the birds were hooped? I'm starting to think you might not know what 'hooped' is. You can adjust the traps to throw the birds at a variety of elevations.

"They cross high from left to right and from right to left, almost straight over the top of the shooter"

What??? Only on station 8 would anyone say the go 'almost straight over the shooter.

"He is holding level with the ground and his body is not canted right or left but firing straight out in front. "

Have you really ever shot skeet? That's EXACTLY where you want to break the targets. Your hold point is about 2/3 from center and your break point should be within 1/3 of center.

" By the time the clays get that far down they are way out of range and either far right or far left. About 70 degrees from center line of the shooter, right or left. " That would depend on what station you're shooting.

"You shoot from that original stance because there is no time to change your stance. "

Sorry pal, but you don't know what your talking about. Most shooter change their stance a bit for high, low, and doubles on stations 1,2, 7 & 8

"Every shotgun shooting sport has a ttern of how the clays can fly for that course of fire. It is standardized and the same from range to range."

Sporting Clays has no pattern. Skeet is supposed to have set targets IF it is a competition and the traps are adjusted properly by HOOPING the targets.

I agree that Obama isn't a skeet shooter, but nothing in that photo would tell you that A- he isn't actually shooting at a skeet field, or B - That he doesn't shoot a couple of rounds of skeet when he's at Camp David.

Ghost...contrary to popular belief, most of what the ATF does is NOT kicking down doors and confiscating weapons Most of what the do is field requests from local state and county law enforcement to trace the sequence of ownership of guns used in crimes and you are correct, most hit a brick wall when there is a private sale. It is a horrific and expensive waste of money and man hours The DMV sample of title and registration would virtually solve the problem If you possess a weapons with no certificate of title or registration indicating background check and waiting period, or if you transferred title and registration to a third party without the background check and waiting period, you go to prison..period

"First his overall shooting form with a shotgun is terrible. "

That was my very FIRST comment about this.

Mark,,,It is not a "hope" it is a certainty, be it by cool heads prevailing or Sherrifs being arrested for hindering governmental administration

perfect You can watch a bowler and tell in an instant if they have bowled much. You can tell before they even let loose of the ball if they have or if they are telling stories. First his overall shooting form with a shotgun is terrible. With that stock setting that high on his shoulder two things are going to happen when he pulls the trigger. The stock is going to smack him in the left cheek pretty hard and he will feel a lot of recoil because there is a small amount of surface space of the stock actually on his shoulder. The way he is holding the shotgun screams rooky all the way. After firing one round that way anyone in their right mind would be changing the way they shoulder the gun for the next round. I shot comp skeet, trap, and sporting clays for years on different base teams. I've seen many new shooters learn this lesson, and it is a painful lesson. Those of us who shoot a lot can look at his posture and tell he hasn't and that this pic is not of him shooting skeet. We know how the clays fly on a skeet range. They cross high from left to right and from right to left, almost straight over the top of the shooter, but never level with the ground and straight out in front of you. He is holding level with the ground and his body is not canted right or left but firing straight out in front. By the time the clays get that far down they are way out of range and either far right or far left. About 70 degrees from center line of the shooter, right or left. They blew it when they set this pic up. Not even the posers who set the stage for this performance knew what they were doing on a skeet range. The clays move fast on a skeet range, you walk up to a station set your feet get ready, say pull and the clays are out and gone in a second flat. You shoot from that original stance because there is no time to change your stance. Every shotgun shooting sport has a pattern of how the clays can fly for that course of fire. It is standardized and the same from range to range. We shooters know this, they didn't figure it out. There is a lot wrong with this picture as they have defined it. It's kind like a total rooky trying to tell you he's a pro bowler. One look and you know differently.
