McCain has the appeal of many moderate Democrats and Republicans. Therefore, he is electable. Rudy and Mitt also has that appeal.

The Republican Party officials may be dismayed by him but since he got the surge, the party members must be okay with him.

My preference is Huckabee.

tbr With all due respect, I am going to disagree with you. I believe that it's going to be easier for a Republican to get elected with Hillary as the Democratic nominee. For one thing, the Republican Party will capitalize on her polarizing personality. Even within the Democratic Party, they also feel that she alienates them - thus the reason why they started using her daughter and mother on campaign ads. They are trying to soften her up and make her approachable. If they succeed, they may have a viable candidate, but don't hold your breath.

Destin

I agree McCain does sound like a dem, but he certainly is better then Billary. It won't be Obama. Billary will dig some dirt up on him, before the primaries are over. I don't think moderates will vote for either.

McCain is a Democrat, the only reason he is not in the party is the socialist lib's have taken over.

Republican campaign is very muddied right now. I think it is going to come down to organization, which is where most of them end up.

Usually, same party candidate has an advantage by wedding themselves to the incumbent. The current Repub crop are distancing themselves as fast as they can from Bush.

I think it will be very, very difficult for a Republican to be elected President this time around.

I think McCain is seen as too old and centrist to be nominated. Huckabee has come on strong recently, but I think that is a flash in the pan.

I still think it will be Rudy or Mitt against Hillary.

Could the GOP get it right this time? I hope his surge lasts and he has some good debates. Bob Beckell even said that John Mccain would be the toughest canidate to beat because he really is a Bi-Partisan and a Patriot. Not to mention that you can't really find too many people who can call him corrupt. If there were such a thing as an "Honest" politician, it would be John Mccain. Mccain/Leiberman 08!!!!!
