"Since our government is our responsibility, keeping it sane and rational should be a priority, and that requires correcting the corruption"

Good luck with that- governements have been corrupt since Uggh was first elected Keeper of the Embers to Make Fire. Of course it helped that Oggh, the Keeper of the Big Clubby Tusk, beat the tar out of everyone who opposed Uggh, and that got Oggh the best piece of charred mastadon when Uggh made Fire....

lqqk,

Give it a break, or at least use facts. I post more than you?? You have 3486 posts to your credit, I have 915 (1 was deleted) prior to this one. You have to stop using obamanomic numbers, aka outright lies that are easily shown.

I have never struck at anybody unprovoked. As with most, we get tired of your name calling, lies, and pure bs posting (as shown above) and other crap. If you think your being called a liar is name calling, then stop fibbing. Too bad you didn't keep enjoying our vacation from your postings.

To CTplaycouple

Being a thoughtful and active citizen is part of being an American. Since our government is our responsibility, keeping it sane and rational should be a priority, and that requires correcting the corruption and eliminating the spending of $113 billion for the occupation of Afghanistan.

Whatever we do for our country is part of our job. Restoring the American economy and creating American jobs is the our responsibility, and it involves not only personal interests, but interests for the common citizen, our brothers.

America is more than individuals selfishly interested in solitary achievements.

"It is obvious you are an angry old man with no life outside these forums, but relax a bit, you're gonna give yourself health problems."

Typical "wingnut" reply. You post more then I do and you're the one who, when someone does not agree with you is the first to resort to name calling. The "bullshit" I was referring to is the same old same old. GOP line of cut taxes and all will be fine. How can I be angry? There is a Dem in the White House You're the one who is not happy with the guy in charge. IMO you honestly need to attend some anger management classes. I chose to stay away for a few months while all along you were still posting, so who don't have a life outside the forums? YOU.

This post is about the economy and jobs. I wonder how many of you out there are thinking five or ten years ahead and whether your skills will be needed and effective in the future. Are you managing your own career? Are you learning new techniques? Have you prepared yourself in case you need to move? Will you be retired and are managing your expenses now? You all KNOW that businesses have different rules these days. You all KNOW that being technologically savvy is important. You all KNOW that you have the freedom to pick up and move just as much as the company you work for can. You all KNOW that there are younger people always available who work for less and might have more modern views on things. So what are YOU doing about it. Quit whining about the loss of manufacturing or that computers are taking over the world or that your company thinks they can't afford you anymore. Whether Republican or Democrats are in charge, those that adapt will survive and thrive. Those that don't will feel the pain and complain. Yeah, the economy and your bank account aren't feeling so good right now. So what are you doing NOW to have a better life in the FUTURE?

Monday, June 20, 2011The $113 Billion Hole: Ten Things America Gave Up This Year To Pay For The War In Afghanistan {reblogged from the Heartland through Ybor City}

Is the war in Afghanistan worth Head Start for this child and 14.7 million others?President Obama is expected to announce within a week if and how many combat troops he plans to withdraw from the war in Afghanistan. Some of those who will be most impacted by the decision are U.S. soldiers and their families and Afghans who have been dealing with the ramifications of the war for nearly a decade.

Yet the war is affecting more than just Western soldiers and their families and Afghan citizens. It has become a costly drain on our nation’s treasury; the money that is being spent on the war represents resources that are being drained away from important domestic priorities in a nation with sky-high unemployment and crumbling infrastructure. Using data from the National Priorities Project, ThinkProgress calculated ten investments America could’ve afforded if it didn’t spend $113 billion — the allotment made in Fiscal Year 2011 — on the war in Afghanistan. Each one of these policy options represents an equivalent $113 billion cost:

– Provide 57.5 Million Children With Low-Income Health Care For 2011 – Provide 23 Million People With Low-Income Health Coverage In 2011 – Give 20.2 Million $5,500 Pell Grants To Students In 2011 – Provide 14.35 million Military Veterans With VA Medical Care In 2011 – Give 14.7 million Children Head Start Funding In 2011 – Give 14.26 Million Scholarships To University Students In 2011 – Employ 1.93 million Firefighters In 2011 – Hire 1.75 Million Elementary School Teachers In 2011 - Hire 1.65 Million Police Officers In 2011 – Equip 67.8 Million Households With The Ability To Use Wind Power In 2011 – Equip 25.39 Million Households With The Ability To Use Solar Photovoltaic Energy In 2011

Of course, none of this accounts for the human cost of losing our sons and daughters in war. 177 American soldiers have died in combat in 2011, and countless Afghans lost their lives as well. As decision-makers plot their next steps in Afghanistan, they should weigh these costs as they determine the fate of a war that most Americans oppose and that even Republicans are beginning to back away from.

Instead of bitching. Show and document the bull shit part, if you can.

It is obvious you are an angry old man with no life outside these forums, but relax a bit, you're gonna give yourself health problems.

"Congratulations. I actually thought you and the word "think" were an impossible fit."

Yes, I'm capable of original thought, unlike your talk radio rhetoric, sheepole, broken record, same old right wing bullshit.
