Obama's bluff is about to be called and he's gonna lose no matter what he does. There's absolutely no money to be made off of this and it's none of our damn business either!

Sedu:

1) Obama may have felt that our war living nature would have enabled him to act upon the threat. So now he must eat crow. (Hint hint: don't make threat, simply bash skulls in and that works as the threat to the next guy... Thus why we should have fire bombed every afghan village bin laden was in prior to 9/11. No warning, just target packages and then death covering the land)

2) Obama's liberal side showing. Wave a big stick and think everyone is equally as afraid of the US military... (We think the world fears the US... They don't, they laugh at our military. Why? Becaise for what we spend on it, we ought have fucking star destroyers with Death Star laser beams)

I don't remember which Queen it was that said long ago, "let them eat cake", I know she meant it in an entirely different way, than I do here, but I like the saying. This is not some third world country where the "rebels" are running around throwing rocks and the people are starving as a result. Sending MREs and vaccines will do nothing either way to shift the balance of power. The media is spinning this whole mess that other countries are supplying The Syrian Natl Govt with arms and support, while the US is merely guilty of sending food staples and the like. We all know enough how our govt operates to know this is not true. We also all know enough about how the govt operates to understand that anything the Pres and congress tells was contained in "intel reports" can be as fictitious as Harry Potter. Something in this whole mess is not sitting right with me and it makes me want to ask a few questions. While as the American public we are not in a position to get truthful answers to the questions we want answered, we do maintain the ability to be skeptical of any thing the media or the govt presents as fact. Why does a world leader result to the use of chemical or biological weapons, when they have more than enough conventional weaponry and Soldiers at their command to deal with any issue. Especially when the ramifications historically mean a regime change? And if you were a rebel force facing such a Leader, what better way to get some pretty kick ass help from other nations. I am not saying the chemical attacks did or did not take place, I am not saying that the Syrian Regime is responsible for these attacks if they did occur, and I am not saying the "rebels" either faked the attacks or unleashed some sort of attack of their own in order to "frame" the regime. I am saying these are all possibilities that no one seems to be considering.

I am simply saying that if I can stomp a mudhole in you and walk it dry without much fear of reprisal or backlash, then why would I resort to a method of dealing with you that would result in reprisal and backlash?

I am fully aware that cultural differences exist between myself and the average Syrian, however, the Leader of a Country like Syria doesn't get there by being stupid.

I would like a few more questions asked AND answered truthfully before we go sending missile and drones with the capability of killing innocents and noncombatants just to save "political face"

I can't find one thing in TBR's last post to take issue with.

Damn, I hate when that happens.

Tbr:

If Obama has one failing, it is assuming that politics is rational, logical or involves critical thinking.

That's the part that always gets overlooked.

I am not a big fan of Obama's foreign policy.

The one question I would ask here is what is the purpose of the strike?

Are we swatting a baby on the butt when they get too close to the stove?

Are we trying to give the rebels the upper hand?

If we go through with the strike, and Syria continues using chemical weapons, what then?

Assad will do just about anything to stay in power, that's pretty obvious. And the alternative, as we have seen many times since 1989, is not optimal...

I think Obama's mistake in this case (and several others) is assuming that he was dealing with rational people. He is not.

On the other hand, we can't go around being the world's policeman...

I wouldn't want to trade places with Obama on this one...

".... provided there is ""a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.""

Has that happened? Am I missing something?

Bill:

"Perhaps if we stopped killing people indescriminately others would also."

We the US are the single most restrained military on the face of the planet when it comes to killing people.

Every single member nation of NATO, much less any ally in Iraq would shoot with less discrease on than US soliders and almost never investiage, much less ask questions as to why the soldiers opened fire.

Word to the wise, when the South Africans say stop, wave hands... Stop and obey. They will only say it once and if you don't, your dead. US soldiers will wave, yell, we will even walk into the street to block the lane if you passed the beginning check point... Only shooting after you pass the final layer... Only after you are close enough for your IED to kill US soldiers.

No other ally nation of ours allows you to get that close.

P.S.

Our drone strikes are nothing when compared to what the French forigne legion does. There is a reason why news crews don't follow the legion.... They (the news crew) don't survive the experience unless the legion wants them to.
