Our inaction has Iranian troops with in striking distance of Israel, and if Assad wins you can bet your ass Assad will have a debt to pay. ie. Missle deployment and or Bases of operations. US Navy off the coast will slow support from Iran and Russia. And Russia will never fire on a US Navy ship no matter where they are deployed.

We dont need to start a war to make a statement. We are falling into the trap. If you think the Russian wont flinch you are wrong. The reason for their support of Assad is our inaction. This president has shown no resolve and has not even talked with Assad or anyone else for that matter and the Russians are just filling the void. There is no way in hell Putin will act against a US ship No way.

Namely because you have the Russians black fleet right there blocking you. Now you risk open war with the Russians... Who have decided that Assad is the rightful ruler... Are you prepared for a limited (if we're lucky) exchanged with the Russians? Is your thirst for war that strong? As for doing your time in the past, good for you. You apparently either have a score to settle, or have never seen war... Either way, any man, veteran (my father and I) calling fore war, ought to be forever to fight said war the selves... First. And I define war as any military action taken. An aircraft carrier parked off someone's coast with the demands of surrender or die... Is military action.

An Air Craft carrier and a few destoyers, and one Hospital ship would show remarkable support and would detour Iran from sending more troops. All we have to do is show our face. But so far he has said nothing.

It would do you good to actually spend some time reading and educating yourself to comprehend WHY the US is involved in the region, and that your protestations and whines wont change that one bit. You would at least understand how unintelligent you sound. But these realizations never stopped you in the past so why would they now. I suspect that in approximately 50 years, give or take, you'll be consuming fried Twinkies and washing them down with Coors light, still living in your momma's basement and posting ignorant posts online.

In any event, the people claiming power in Syria now are the same people who not only killed US soldiers in Iraq, but desire a Syria with Islam as the only religion. I will sooner support allying with charves than these Syrians. Like so many times before, we will be burned by these radicals... Radicals who are so fractured in leadership that they don't have an actual leader or government body... During our revolution we had appointed leaders who could be named and were held to account for the actions and statements of the rebels. (that would be the US fighting forces fighting the British) Jefferson, Adams, Washington, just to name three leaders which were known throughout the war and before it.

These and other attacks during the period of unrest have elicited responses from the government pointing toward al-Qa'ida involvement in Syria. As part of a broader strategy during the year, the regime has attempted to portray Syria as a victim of terrorism rather than a purveyor of it. Syria has laws on the books pertaining to counterterrorism and terrorist financing, but it largely used these legal instruments against opponents of the regime, including political protesters and other members of the growing oppositionist movement. Furthermore, these laws were not enforced against Hamas, Hizballah, or the various Palestinian rejectionist groups based in Damascus. Syria continued its strong partnership with fellow state sponsor of terrorism, Iran . Asad continued to be a staunch defender of Iran's policies. Iran also exhibited equally energetic support for Syrian regime efforts to put down the growing protest movement within Syria. Syria remained a source of concern regarding terrorist financing. Industry experts reported that 60 percent of all business transactions were conducted in cash and that nearly 80 percent of all Syrians did not use formal banking services. Despite Syrian legislation that required money-changers to be licensed by the end of 2007, many money-changers in 2011 continued to operate illegally in Syria's vast black market, estimated to be as large as Syria's formal economy. Regional hawala networks remained intertwined with smuggling and trade-based money laundering and were facilitated by notoriously corrupt customs and immigration officials. This raised significant concerns that some members of the Syrian government and the business elite were complicit in terrorist finance schemes conducted through these institutions. Syria is a member of the Middle East North Africa Financial Action Task Force, a Financial Action Task Force (FATF)-style regional body. It has been in the FATF International Cooperation Review Group process, under which it has made progress on its Anti-Money Laundering/Counterterrorist Finance (AML/CTF) regime. In 2011, Syria was named in the FATF Public Statement for its lack of progress on implementing adequate procedures for identifying and freezing terrorist assets, ensuring that financial institutions are aware of and comply with their obligations to file suspicious transaction reports in relation to AML and CTF and ensuring that appropriate laws and procedures are in place to provide mutual legal assistance.
