Give it a rest, you are boring as well as wrong MT. Maybe in Canada, but this is not Canada.

Non sequitur.

Try doing it in reverse, Judge FJ.

If the criminal court found OJ guilty, the plaintiff most likely would have been allowed to produce the verdict as evidence in the civil case.

On the other hand, OJ probably probably was not allowed to put into defense the fact that he got a "not guilty" verdict in the criminal case.

The "presumption of innocence" is a maxim that has meaning in many contexts. A "not guilty" verdict does trigger the defendant's double jeopardy rights. But it does not establish "innocence" as an affirmative fact in the civil case, because the fact was never established in the first case.

FJ, the reason we got onto this tangent is because you made the silly suggestion that Quick Draw McZimmerman should be protected from my opinions on a swinger chat board because of his "presumption of innocence."

OJ might have walked in and out of Judge Ito's court with a presumption of innocence, but he was never pronounced, declared, determined, proven or found innocent.

Civil courts are not the same as criminal courts. That is why they call them civil court, and not criminal court.

Duhhhhhhhhhh!

Professor FJ, if OJ was found, determined or proven "innocent" in judge Ito's criminal court, then the civil suits against him would have gone nowhere.

Instead, the OJ jury found him "not guilty," which obviously did not establish his innocence. The civil jury found him liable for wrongful death battery.

It's cute how you keep holding on though.

TBR sweet and Cpl already answered, seems you couldn't muster the gray matter to figure it out.
