In time I am sure that Rice and other plants will be modified to grow without soil.

User Details are only visible to members.	"Damn you are dumb" That's the understatement of the year. One of our local feed stores the owner has degrees in husbandry, business, and accounting. As far as city farming~farmers have advocated for years that city folks take more responsibility for the food. Problem is zoning laws prevent many from growing crops and raising livestock. City folk not farming/gardening is not because farmers frown on it. It is because some city folk are uppity, and others ignorant. They spend too much time worrying about their neighbor instead of themselves.

These people as you have pointed out are researchers, they do not produce a product like green beans... they research how to make the green bean better, how to grow more crops. All the farmer must do is be told how and where to plow and what to grow and when to grow it. The person with the Agricultural Science Degree gives the farmer the tools, the farmer only must do what they are told by the guys with the Agricultural Science Degrees.

You can earn an agricultural science degree in many areas and at both undergraduate and graduate degree levels. Agribusiness, animal science, natural resources, agricultural education and forestry are all considered part of the agriculture industry according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and agriculture schools. You can study food science, animal husbandry, farming and veterinary medicine through agriculture science departments at colleges and universities around the country. There are even agricultural engineering and teaching certificate programs. Associate's degree programs in the agricultural sciences include turfgrass management, forest technology, agricultural business, wildlife technology, food science and other areas. Bachelor's degree programs include agricultural extension education, biological engineering, agroecology, food science and more. Master's degree programs include agricultural education, agricultural economics, agribusiness and others. You can earn a doctoral degree in agricultural science that focuses on crop science, human nutrition, teaching and research. Farming is more than picking crops. And I'm not sure you would be qualified to pick crops.

" 1) meat and dairy products will remain for the time the only thing the farmers will have left and we are already working on cloning meat from stem cells. The benefits of milk can be obtained from vitamins. 2) grain is a plant, given time it can be grown in a lab as well. "I am glad you think that running a farm is for the uneducated people. You should try it and see how well you do at running a farm." Do you go to college to learn to farm? Are Illegal Aliens which pick our food from the farms not uneducated or under educated? Understand that the term educated means formal education, it means that you have a degree or certificate (many places don't accept certificates and see them as lazy mans college.).
