Just:

God? which god? If it is the one which flooded the earth, nuked two cities, created evil and did nothing during WWII while millions were killed by the Nazi's or millions more by Stalin... Your god has no home here on Earth and if it thinks it does... I will gladly turn this false god (likely an alien or some hallucination of someones) into a pinata for all the kids of the world to beat with sticks.

So please do not bring matters of religion into a discussion of science. Science trumps religion, because no god saved the Jews, no god saved the native Americans, and no god has ever prevented slavery.

Man kind create technology to free ourselves from the enslavement by fictional cartoon characters which the fearful and simple of mind obey.

Antarctic ice is growing, not melting away

Ice expanding in much of Antarctica Eastern coast getting colder Western section remains a concern

ICE is expanding in much of Antarctica, contrary to the widespread public belief that global warming is melting the continental ice cap.

The results of ice-core drilling and sea ice monitoring indicate there is no large-scale melting of ice over most of Antarctica, although experts are concerned at ice losses on the continent's western coast.

Antarctica has 90 per cent of the Earth's ice and 80 per cent of its fresh water, The Australian reports. Extensive melting of Antarctic ice sheets would be required to raise sea levels substantially, and ice is melting in parts of west Antarctica. The destabilisation of the Wilkins ice shelf generated international headlines this month.

However, the picture is very different in east Antarctica, which includes the territory claimed by Australia.

East Antarctica is four times the size of west Antarctica and parts of it are cooling. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research report prepared for last week's meeting of Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington noted the South Pole had shown "significant cooling in recent decades".

Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program head Ian Allison said sea ice losses in west Antarctica over the past 30 years had been more than offset by increases in the Ross Sea region, just one sector of east Antarctica.

"Sea ice conditions have remained stable in Antarctica generally," Dr Allison said.

The melting of sea ice - fast ice and pack ice - does not cause sea levels to rise because the ice is in the water. Sea levels may rise with losses from freshwater ice sheets on the polar caps. In Antarctica, these losses are in the form of icebergs calved from ice shelves formed by glacial movements on the mainland.

Antarctic Sea Ice Sets Another Record

forbes.c om/sites/jamestaylor/2012/09/19/antarctic-sea-ice-sets-another-record/

"Antarctic sea ice set another record this past week, with the most amount of ice ever recorded on day 256 of the calendar year (September 12 of this leap year). Please, nobody tell the mainstream media or they might have to retract some stories and admit they are misrepresenting scientific data."

Robert there is absolutely no indication the south pole is melting. In fact it has been reported to be larger than previous years. I do not have a obsession except with truth and fact. You have a obsession with telling lies. As the one in which you claimed that fresh water would desalinate the oceans. Complete stupidity.

If you want me to be nice, try being smart.

Fjep:

I do not know what the reason is for your obsession with the Ocean salinity, but the southern pole is melting, that fresh water is being added to the oceans and it will affect The Meridional Overturning Current is affected by this melt of the ice and run off from our rivers affect the salinity local to the mouths of the rivers.

Increase in flooding, increases the amount of fresh water which flows down the river and through the mouth of the deltas and other into the oceans.

The following link is about the MOC and possible effects that the southern pole might have on it.

ht tp://oceanlink.island.ne t/ONews/ONews7/changing_currents.ht ml

Why is the MOC important? Because it moves the surface winds and they move clouds and moisture. These winds direct where, if and when the moisture will condense and fall as rain.

They also affect the movement of warm air which affects the power and length of a storm.

Now you can try to sit there and split hairs on minor issues or you can accept the undeniable facts 1) that we are running out of fresh water. 2) That desalinizing salt water is still far too expensive. 3) That no matter if we have more fresh water or not, soiless farming saves water.

These facts aren't in dispute.

WHY IS THE SEA SALTY?

Everyone who has been to the beach knows that seawater is salty. Everyone also knows that fresh water in rain, rivers, and even ice is not salty. Why are some of Earth’s waters salty and others not? There are two clues that give us the answer. First, “fresh” water is not entirely free of dissolved salt. Even rainwater has traces of substances dissolved in it that were picked up during passage through the atmosphere. Much of this material that “washes out” of the atmosphere today is pollution, but there are also natural substances present.

As rainwater passes through soil and percolates through rocks, it dissolves some of the minerals, a process called weathering. This is the water we drink, and of course, we cannot taste the salt because its concentration is too low. Eventually, this water with its small load of dissolved minerals or salts reaches a stream and flows into lakes and the ocean. The annual addition of dissolved salts by rivers is only a tiny fraction of the total salt in the ocean. The dissolved salts carried by all the world’s rivers would equal the salt in the ocean in about 200 to 300 million years
