Now it is you who must learn to read.

I have for months made it clear that capitalism cannot work in an advanced society. So when I am trying to use these neocons own mentality of all or nothing... It would be good of you to use that brain of yours to remember what I have said in the past.

As explaining the reasons why a more socialist system is better than 1800th century capitalism.

It is called changing tactics. I am playing what they want against what they have.

They want welfare gone. I am showing them the only capitalist and sand path... To pay a wage which makes the high taxes we pay I defendable for a welfare system we would no longer need. (thus reducing it)

In the short term, as more companies would pay better wages, they would be receiving tax write offs until such a point in time as they can return to real capitalism.

Not in any post that I made, did I state that all tax write offs are revolked from companies which pay a wage which keeps their employees off the governments dime. I simply stated that if the company wants its subsadizes in subsadized workers, it won't qualify for write offs as it is already being given its write offs.

The carrot being the write offs. Why should they be allowed to double dip, but a government worker cannot?

Robert, what I just described is as old as the hills. And as fair as Solomon himself. You are wasting your energies in the wrong place. Even your socialistic heroes would agree.

Get an education and take off your ideological blinders, it's really easy and feels good too!

The strongest economies run as a synergy between capitalistic and socialistic energies. Capitalist because everyone is very good at self interest and socialistic because every society functions better when it cares for those that cannot.

From the simple metrics behind the idea for ObamaCare (it costs less to pay for 50 visits to a general practitioner than one visit to an emergency room) to ways to pay for it (spread the risk out on the ENTIRE society) 'socialistic' programs make sense in many ways. Trying to go all the way to the left is as dangerous and flat out wrong as all the way to the right. I don't believe in either extreme and will defend my country from BOTH.

THIS is one of the salient differences that define a 'Progressive' or 'Eisenhower Democrat' from a liberal

Tilting at the windmills of 'write-offs' Robert really does brand you as a simplistic low-information type, which I know is not what you are going for here.....

What you have just explained to me is a bastard child of socialism/communism with a spice of capitalism. Not capitalism with a little spice if socialism and communism.

Robert,

Please pay attention because you are blowing up your argument through ignorance and a lack of understanding of what 'write-offs' are.

First, a 'write-off' is also called (for simplicity here) Cost OF doing Business, or COB. This includes the wood I use to build a house or the fuel for the excavator and the employees to do the job. It also includes rents, leases and subcontracts. As a security guard you can write off uniforms and work shoes. These are 'legitimate' write-offs that nobody argues with. The REASON write-offs exist is because taxes have in nearly all cases have ALREADY BEEN PAID. When I buy that wood, it's already taxed, several times in fact. Same for the fuel for the machines AND the machines (I paid sales tax when I purchased it).

IF I sell the product directly to a person then they pay sales tax ON THAT PRODUCT because it's essentially now a 'new' product. If I permanently attach something to a home (like a garage) I do NOT collect tax on that. The homeowner pays that tax WHEN THEY SELL the home. I am charged with collecting tax for the government, only. I do not 'charge' sales tax. Nor do I attach profit to it. Another way to say that is the 'product' has 'value added'. Many states want to try a 'value added' tax, that taxes you any time you 'add value'.

Back to 'write-offs'. When I 'write something off', what I am essentially saying is that THIS is what it COST ME to make that product and THIS over here is my PROFIT. Should a person be TAXED on his PROFIT or an the selling price of the entire product? Only on the PROFIT of course!

Now, there ARE some 'write-offs' that can be abusive, most of which are gone, like the $200 6 martini business luncheon, they have been removed from the tax code and cannot be used. Others may SEEM abusive, but are often designed by government to 'stimulate' a certain sector of the economy. Last year for instance the government added special stimulus for businesses to purchase machinery. This can include saws, lathes, generators, snow plows, etc. It did not happen to include trucks this year so I could write off my plow, but not my truck in one year. Vehicles are treated differently in the tax code as it's written.

The law allows a business to 'accelerate' the write off of machinery (which is normally done over several years) into a single year. One might be inclined to think I got my machinery 'for free' since I can 'write it off' on my taxes. but all it really means is that the government is allowing me to account the cost of that machine 'faster' in order to entice me to buy machinery THIS YEAR and not wait. It DOES save me money THIS YEAR, but it would all wash out in ensuing years because all we did was 'accelerate' the write-off.

Do people abuse the system? Sure, but no more than the welfare system of any other system. There will ALWAYS be those who rail and cry about government and then turn around and abuse the system in some morally bankrupt and self justified delusion. Hell, we even have members here that brag about it.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water though. If you become a successful writer, those laws will allow you to 'write off' your travel expenses and 'not pay taxes' on that money.

Sweet huh?

You know, I was hoping that the author was going to say something ignorant like purifying their gene pool of less physically abled black genes... But this is just way into Wacko vil and adds another notch to the saying that the right desires slavery of anyone less than they.

From the slavers themselves to the robber Barron's to the modern business model of paying as little as possible for subsadized labor. (welfare recipiants) then demanding more subsadizes through write offs.

By his theory, the current highly paid, Native casino owners should be thankful of his people's near eradication as history played in his favor to be born in the past century?

Oh, and the ones who are poor and suffering from drug and alcohol addiction are thankful as well?

And ppl in Israel should be thankful they have their current land, despite the millions that died in the holocaust?

And anyone that won large money in lawsuits after the death of a close family member should be happy as well?

You think politicians can't dumbfound you anymore, even after Rep. Todd Akin says "legitimate rape" can't get women pregnant and Rep. Paul Broun calls evolution a lie from the "pit of hell." But then, Arkansas State Rep. Jon Hubbard goes and writes a book. It’s called, "Letters to the Editor: Confessions of a Frustrated Conservative," and inside it he espouses a unique view of African-American history, asserting that slavery — and we quote here — "may actually have been a blessing in disguise." Sure, there was all that lynching, beating, raping, shackling, etc. — that part obviously sucked. But once that was over, black people were — and again we quote — "rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth."

Gotta love those politicians, eh?
