".. I think there are more elected officials on the right that have some pretty strange ideas... "
Gee, ya think? Of course, there are also polls that show some seriously unevolved prevailing views among the general public, as well. Evolution = Progress = progressive views. |

"The left goes out of its way to paint the right as paranoid, not intelligent, violent etc... It appears that such descriptions apply quite aptly to the left."
There are people on the right that fit your description, and there are people on the left that also fit your description. I think there are probably more on the right, you think there are more on the left. Which means they are probably pretty even... What I will say is that I think there are more elected officials on the right that have some pretty strange ideas... |

I'm confused. This is just a guess but I think people just object to the UN doing anything and they don't want the US to agree with anything they do because they don't want us to give it any legitimacy.

This treaty would send the wrong message to the world. People who aren't as advanced as we are might think we are in agreement and no better than everyone else. We certainly don't want to appear agreeable or cooperative.

If you want me to respond to you, Bobby. You will read the treaty. I will not waste my time on someone who is proud to put his ignorance on display.

What I do not support is America signing the UN treaty on persons with disability. I said nothing about disagreeing with an established law in the US.
Like I said, it is you who is confused, not I. |

gandj's post:
I must be missing something because I have read the whole thing and I don't see what the concern is. www2 ohchr org / english/law/disabilities-convention.htm The US already does all of this, our laws provided the basis for this agreement, we in effect don't even have to do anything except continue to be the example by which other countries should strive for. Isn't this what Reagan talked about when he said we are a "Shining city on a hill"? To which you said "spot on" when you have made it clear you do not support this treaty |
