Well I don't know if the BLS is going to go along with it and begin reporting 30+ as "full time". If so, that's a pretty bullshit way to report more "full time" jobs.

A bit more detail...

From the NCLS's report to Congress w ww.ncsl. org/documents/health/EmployerPenalties.pdf

A “large employer” is an employer with more than 50 full-time **equivalent** employees **during the preceding calendar year**.

They give an example:

A firm has 35 full-time employees (30+ hours) and 20 part-time employees who all work 24 hours per week (96 hours per month). These part-time employees’ hours would be treated as equivalent to 16 full-time employees, based on the following calculation: 20 employees x 96 hours / 120 = 1920 / 120 = 16 the firm would be considered a “large employer,” based on a total full-time equivalent count of 51—that is, 35 full-time employees plus 16 full-time equivalents based on part-time hours.

So, they are caught 2 ways:

- it's too late to change anything now - it's based on the preceding year, so rules for next year will be applied to a company no matter what they do now

- a company with ZERO full time employees can still be considered as having a number of full time employees for the purposes of the ACA

Va- that has been buzzing on a local site I read at , seems certain employers have been scheduling people for less than 30 hours for some time.

I wonder why I hadn't heard about this.... seems the Affordable Care Act has changed how "full time" is defined....

26 USC § 4980H

(4) Full-time employee (A) In general The term “full-time employee” means, with respect to any month, an employee who is employed on average at least 30 hours of service per week.

A lot of employers are going to be shocked to find they have more "full time" employees than they think they have.

It's not much of a bombshell, the Romney campaign wanted nothing to do with it when they were contacted. It appears that Obama not only used cocaine but he was a dealer, or so claimed. I just don't think the public cares, just as they didn't care that Mitt was a bully in high school.
