User Details are only visible to members.	I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment. I'm heavily into fitness. I am hurt almost always. While I don't run to the doctor with every injury, sometimes I have an issue that needs the attention of a doctor. Despite my heavy workout routine, I have lower lumbar spine problems, as well as cervical spine issues. In addition, I have problems with my fingers and wrists (direct result of lifting). Fit people can trip, fall, fracture skulls and other bones. They can have torn ligaments, dislocated patellas and a slew of many other medical issues that are VERY costly. Why should others pay for them? why should their cost be lower than others who are as big of a risk?

I do agree with you that people who are unhealthy should pay more, that includes wimpy people who are mentally unfit. If a person is a liberal nut case, they should pay for their own mental health insurance or care. That would lower health insurance for sane people.

User Details are only visible to members.	I say that those who do unhealthy things ought to pay for them. If you are a alcoholic, you pay more for the health coverage you get. If you are a smoker/tobaco user, you pay more for the medical you get. If you do illegal drugs, you ought to pay more for the coverage you get. If you work out, eat right (approximately) you pay less for the medical you pay for. It isn't government control, it is paying for your excesses which cost everyone else more for your excesses.

"What people do on their own time is not you concern." vacpl, I appreciate your taking the time to express yourself without calling me self-absorbed for sharing another perspective. Your statement above sounds good on the surface, but I cannot abide it. Should I have to hire a guy who spends his spare time painting pictures that glorify Osama bin Laden? I sell meat and seafood. Should I hire someone who goes on animal rights protests during the weekends? I agree that an employer should hire the best person for a job and generally should not focus on factors unrelated to the work. However, I have great concern for the liberty of both employers and employees and cannot understand how a politically conservative person could suggest that my right to hire whoever I want equates in any way to a "police state." If you feel government should stay out of people's lives as much as possible, then please show as much concern for my liberty as an employer as I have for your liberty in all you do.

I just hope you loose out on hiring some good people because of your closed mind. What people do on their own time is not you concern. As long as they come to work and do the job you are paying them to do and do it well that is your concern.Now if you want to pay them 24 hours a day hell you can control what they do if you would like.
