If you were running for some type of elected office, local, state or federal, I doubt you would even qualify to get your name on the ballot.

You are a wonderful poster and your posts, even when I vehemently disagree with them, makes me think. You, like Dzzy, Akron, Perfect, Bacchus, SandJ, Simbaxxx, Lucky, Debjack, and many, many others open my mind to other points of view and how we, as individuals, see and perceive things. That is a wonderful thing. Don't ever apologize for it! ....and yes, if we ever get your way or you out our way, Vegas or Reno-Tahoe, we will definitely break bread with you!

User Details are only visible to members.	I think we are confusing the issue I was addressing. Either I got it wrong or I am not communicating my point very well. I do not care that Paris is or is not in the news. I was attempting to demonstate that people who commit a crime, a violation or just even a stupid indescration are not the victim. I feel the same way when I read a local newspaper account of a John or Jane Doe, who is poor or middle class and previously nobody ever heard of them, when they claim the same thing, while dismissing or down playing the crime they committed. Paris, her attorney and her own parents would have people believe she is the victim. That is teaching her nothing and perpetuates people who break the law in justify their actions and claiming victim status versus accepting responsibility for one's actions. It is also my opinion that there is a big difference in teaching morals i.e., swearing is OK or not OK, staying out late is OK or not OK, speaking up in public or remaining silent is OK or not OK, etc, versus lying, cheating, stealing and thinking the Law is something that does or should not apply to you. That is not morals, that is clearly right and wrong.

User Details are only visible to members.	Poly, When I was 15, I had a fake ID and could pass, with my heavy stubble or beard, for someone older. At a lounge one night I talked and danced with this women whose boyfriend, I was unaware of, watched from the bar. When I left that night he, along with two friends, were waiting in the parking lot where the two friends held me while he beat me pretty bad. I am not proud of this, but in my stupidity, I refused to tell anyone even my parents or friends what had happened to me or to even explain the injuries. Instead, in my juvenile insanity and lust for revenge, I waited for almost a year and then one night when he came out alone from that same bar, I beat him badly, putting him in the hospital with a broken leg, arm and a severe concussion. Again, I am not proud of that. The police responded and I was too defiant and, again, to stupid to flee. I was arrested at the scene. Anyway, at my hearing my father fired my attorney right in front of the Judge as my Dad would not allow the attorney to spin, misstate facts or lie about what I had done. My father was disgusted when the attorney began dismissing and justify my actions. My father stood by me, but made me stand up and face responsibility for my actions. That is one of the reasons to this day that man is my hero. He didn’t let his love for me, or the fact that we were connected by blood and many friends with local law enforcement, to be used to let me off the hook or detract from my taking personal responsibility for my terrible actions. You refer to money in that if any of us had the Hilton wealth we would act the same way and use same to hire lawyers who would spin the facts much as was done in their daughters case. I would hope that is incorrect. I would hope that the character of a person is not based or molded in how much wealth they possess. If so, what does that say about the wealthy and our society as a whole?

IMO, even when you are annoyed at a public figure you are thoughtful, tactful and stay on point in condemning their comments, actions and/or behavior. I am a little surprised that you do seem to defend Paris much more vocally then I would have guessed, while remaining silent on other public figures who have been bashed. I have always respected your opinion and I still do, but I will admit I am confused in why you think she is so "successful" and not just a product of her inherited wealth and the HILTON name. My wife last week had me listen to her new single release which is due out shortly. You can find it on Video on U-Tube. Sorry, but I fell out of my chair laughing as it is so obvious that her voice is not her voice but an electronically enhanced voice. I thought I was listening to Stacey Q back in the late 1980s again. I don't blame Paris for getting more money for interviews, a perfume line, etc., but I find it astonishing that people do not believe that these companies or news/tabloid agencies are paying her because of her name versus some perceived talent which it seems many people do not believe she has. Just my thoughts and I am now back to ignoring Paris and the threads concerning her.

User Details are only visible to members.	I am a little confused. People can bash and say horrible things about Ann Coulter, but if someone says something about Paris Hilton it is unwarranted???? One of these women is an honors graduate from Law School, clerked for a Supreme Court Justice, is a Law Professor, a high priced lecturer and speaker, and every book she has written has been a Number 1 best seller and relevant to today’s political and legal discussion and debates. The other was born into vast wealth and has done nothing but lived off her name. Everything she has done is self centered, foolish and superficial. Even many Liberal feminist dismiss her as setting women back by portraying an image of privilege, excess and being nothing more then an air headed sex toy. Her supposed successes such as her perfume, clothing line, modeling etc, are not based on any talent by Paris, but by the agencies capitalizing on the HILTON name. As far as nobody bashing other celebrities or people in the public eye, past forums clearly demonstrate that is not true. As far as being respected for being rich and good looking, one could use that same argument for OJ Simpson, Andrew Luster and the many other men and women who have demonstrated that they believe their wealth, fame, name or celebrity position in life gives them the right to live outside of the rule of law. Paris Hilton may have a social impact on today’s culture, but that impact is one that, IMO, brings out the worst in us - one of a self centered and superficial nature. When it comes to the meaningful things in life, Paris has no importance. Success should not be judged on how much wealth someone has, nor our perception of whether they are or are not beautiful. However, if anyone is going to do that, then I would think looking up to people of wealth like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Cindy Crawford, etc, would make more sense. These people truly climbed up from nothing to the top of a profession and therefore seem to me, to be better role models or success stories. If admiring a women who acts like a bimbo, with questionable talent and has looks that many of us believe are created and maintained through money is what turns someone on then I suggest Brittany Spears. As much as I never understood what people saw or see in her, she did at least start from modest means and worked to create her wealth. Is anyone aware of the feud between Anderson Cooper and Larry King? During the King interview, Paris claimed she is anti-drug and has never took them and does not hang out with people that do. Paris’s answers concerning drug use, as well as all her answers were never challenged by King. It was a “fluff” interview. Anderson Cooper immediately exposed Paris Hilton’s obvious lies by re-showing video that has been floating around for a long time of her smoking dope in a crack pipe, along with nigh club footage of her and her friends doing cocaine. On Larry King she claimed to be a re-born Christian yet could not provide one single quote or reference from the bible that she claims she intensely read while in jail. Any criticism that Paris gets whether on these forums or by people in the media are either the result of her own stupidity, or her belief that bad publicity is better then no publicity.
