** "An Israeli intelligence source has confirmed Iran’s Fordow underground nuclear uranium enrichment facility sustained major damage in a “mega explosion” that occurred last week.

Fordow, which contains at least 2,700 centrifuges for uranium enrichment, is located deep beneath a mountain near the Iranian city of Qom.

Some 200 workers were trapped inside the facility at the time, according to a report published Monday by The Times, a UK-based newspaper.

The report quoted an Israeli official as saying “We’re still in the early stages of trying to comprehend what happened and the extend of its significance.” The source added that it was not yet known whether the explosion was “an act of sabotage or incidental.”

The official declined to reveal whether Israeli aircraft had been in the vicinity at the time of the explosion.

Iran has denied that any explosion occurred at the facility, claiming in a statement to the official IRNA news agency that reports of the blast were nothing more than “Western propaganda.” **

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is cutting its aircraft carrier presence in the Persian Gulf region from two carriers to one, the Defense Department said Wednesday, in a move that represents one of the most significant effects of budget cuts on the U.S. military presence overseas.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has approved keeping just one carrier in the Persian Gulf region. The U.S. has maintained two aircraft carrier groups in the Gulf for most of the last two years.

Plans for the USS Harry S Truman to deploy to the Gulf later this week have been canceled. The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, brought home from the Gulf in December for the resurfacing of its flight deck and other maintenance, will return later this month and stay until about summer. The USS John C. Stennis will leave the Gulf and return home after the Eisenhower arrives.

Pentagon press secretary George Little issued a statement Wednesday afternoon confirming the carrier decision after The Associated Press, citing unidentified U.S. officials, reported Panetta's move.

Little said the Navy asked Panetta to delay the deployments of the Truman and the USS Gettysburg, a guided-missile cruiser, because of budget uncertainty.

"This prudent decision enables the U.S. Navy to maintain these ships to deploy on short notice in the event they are needed to respond to national security contingencies," Little said, adding that the U.S. will maintain "robust military presence" in the region.

In 2010, then-Defense Secretary Robert Gates approved a formal directive to keep two carrier groups in the Gulf amid escalating tensions with Iran. It has been part of a U.S. show of force in the region, particularly in an effort to ensure that the critical Strait of Hormuz remains open to naval traffic.

" now is when the fun takes place.

Oh I agree!! I can't wait to see the new and creative ways you blame everyone but Israel for her troubles and deride anyone with a slightly different opinion as either inept or evil. I also look forward to seeing you go ballistic when you don't get you way, as usual.

Priceless indeed!

NoCal,

Foreign policy is one of my absolute favorite subjects. Obama learned nothing. He destroyed Egypt, he's personally responsible for the deteriorating relationship with our ONLY true and democratic ally in the middle east. He surrounded himself with antisemitic colleagues (Hagel, Kerry). And continues on the same path as he did during his first term, only this time around he is no longer worried about re-election, now is when the fun takes place.

Nixon took the same deal in 72 he could have had in 69. Yes, Kerry went to Paris, and the fact is has The Nixon administration done the right thing, there would have been no need for it....Blood is on the hands of the Nixon administration forEVERY casualty in the war after the late fall of 69 don't deflect by blaming Kerry

Is WND a legitimate news site? They also put up this gem:

"Evolutionists teach that dinosaurs died out long before humans evolved from apes. But is this true? Or is their view of dinosaurs part of a colossal hoax that's being taught as fact to your children and grandkids?..."

From an "article" among others including:

- "It's time to resist creeping Shariah! "

- "High-schoolers told cannibalism allowed University where Obama spoke instructs in 'this type of violence'"

No nuclear material might not explod on its own, but we do not know what else they had there or if they had a reactor there at all? Maybe they lost containment on a reactor on sight and its containment vessel blew up?

That would be a conventional explosion.

The question is, are there increased levels of radiation surrounding that area and if so, how high are they?

Maybe this will be Irans chynobal?

Robert Two points There should not have been any conventional explosives at that location and nuclear material does not explode unless a sequence of events happen perfectly. Iran just told the UN that it could not send inspectors to that location because it did not exist. How now do they claim that some one blew up what does not exist? They have backed themselves into a corner.

I'm working on some research and a much better answer and will post it tomorrow. I'm hoping that someone or someones will fill in some blanks in this chain of events.
