as against pragmatic explanations for gun ownership." The argument has driven off the road right here. There's nothing mutually exclusive between these explanations. One feeling supports the other. They're complementary. You could argue that the emasculating feeling you get with a gun outweighs the masculine power you feel from it, but that's a non starter. Even gun nuts agree it's the furthest thing from feeling diminished virility. I get a big kick out of a new tool that does a job well. There's no such thing as an emotionless interaction with a new toy. Toys are fun. |

I'll resort to the weak factless type of discussions of others here, so... Those who continually resort to Markley's law are in need of psychiatric help, not everything is sexual in nature. I'm sure those people must have better things to do than continually push invalid phallus arguments, such as polishing their gardening tools, dusting their year's supply of canned food and playing with their wood [pile]. |
