I agree that there is a double standard, but personally I think that if a Black radio dj were to have said something like that about a white womens basketball team, I would support firing him as well. I think Imus has done serious emotional damage to these girls and should do the right thing and step down. I can't help but get more angry every time I hear that clip. As far as rap is concerned. It's funny. I listen to 97.9 here in the dfw area. And the morning dj, Ricky Smilie, who is as about as far Left as you can get politically and watches nothing but CNN and MSNBC, did bring up the question about Hip Hop and how some of the lyrics relate to this situation. And I was stunned to hear him say that Hip Hop does bear some responsibility, more specifically Black Men. He said that we as a people had tolerated and endorsed "Artists" who degraded our women and made it seem like such a normal way to refer to black females. He supports Imus being fired, although he admitted that he was a huge fan of his and supported his Left leaning political philosophy. But that did not keep Ricky from let him have it with both barrels and calling for his removal. I was surprised at how deep the conversation had gotten about hip hop and how we have been giving the false impression that it's ok to say such things about our women. The problem is that when you ask people like Jessee Jackson and Al Sharpton about the relationship between Rap and Imus, Jessee for example, pulled out the old Slavery/Racism card and danced around the question. Phrasing his answer so vaguely and generally that it would be hard for anyone to get upset about his position or even understand what he had just said for that matter. Black leaders in the community and in the church have become so afraid of speaking out against the culture of ignorance that is celebrated everyday on the radio, on tv, in the movie theaters, and on CDs. We need more Bill Cosbys period. I am sick of these meely mouth racism junkies who's always looking for someone to tug the other end of the civil rights rope. I remember the episode of the Boondocks, when Martin Luther King Jr. woke up from a coma. At the end of the episode, after he had observed the culture that we had become and he finally addressed the Black Community from the pulpit. He went off to a degree that would have made Bill Cosby look like Dr. Dre. That's the kind of medicine we need in the Black community, we need a culture war for the heart and soul of our communities. Maybe I'll see it in my lifetime.......

The MSM (IMHO)wants to stir crap up because the more it stinks the higher the ratings. For instance see the guy who got the DNA test back saying he was the father of Anna Nichole Smith's baby. The way they were talking earlier you'd think were were all gonna get a cut of the inheritence.

That goes to what i was saying about the "soapbox" Now then, how does this equal the entire Black community being ok with the use of bitch/ ho/ nigger in rap? I just explianed the double standard, But in my view had the comment made been directed toward an all white team would there be the same outrage? or if Imus were black and made those statements toward such a team. Had the Duke players been accused of raping a white woman exotic Dancer and escort would this have gone national? Would Nifong have risked his career for a White woman, or would she been burned at the stake for being a call girl? We rarely hear of any denegration of white women but it happens in comedy clubs and on CDs all the time where is the outrage I am not hearing and still dont not a word.
