I feel that Osama is summoning up what amounts to a Holy War for the reason that people have always called on believers to kill for God - because it's a great tool to get people to turn their brains off and be willing to shoot someone who they'd be happy to buy a cup of coffee from in any other circumstance. You see extremist Muslim as the enemy of freedom. I see extremism in any religion as the enemy of freedom, and I'm not comfortable unleashing our extremism against theirs. "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. "

Tell me why all the fuss over bin Laden by you bozos when your own government doesn't seem to care too much about him, preferring instead to try and quell insurection against them in Iraq?

You have something of substance to provide to prove that Pakistan is obstructing the hunt for bin Laden? I mean if you had that sort of evidence it would seem like you could make the case that Pakistan does not support the war on terror, and is in essence providing aid and succor to known terrorists. Methinks that would make them an enemy of the USA. How come old Gee Duby isn't on the boob tube everyday telling the American people how treacherous those pesky Pakis are? Why wasn't Pakistan included in the "axis of evil" remark? This just doesn't make sense; Pakistan is an ally of the USA.

I'm not saying that I agree with Muslim extremists - I'm saying that it's ignorant to extrapolate from their rhetoric about dominating the traditionally Muslim lands, to concluding that they want to kill everyone on the earth who's not Muslim. A historical irony - during the Midieval Times, when the Muslims ruled North Africa and much of Spain, the Jewish population was actually safer in many parts of the Muslim ruled territories than they were in many parts of Christian Europe. There is no Muslim Inquisition, no history of forced conversions. There always were places where anti-Semitism ran deep - particularly in Egypt - but the Jews had many thriving communities in Muslim lands, and during WW II the Jews living in North Africa made off far better than their European brethern .... although the Germans did have their share of atrocities in North African nations they occupied. The Vichy French were particularly odious in occupied Tunisia (you remember Casablanca?): " France implemented strict laws against local Jews, expelling them from schools, universities, and government employment, confiscating their property, and sending a number of local Jewish political activists to harsh labor camps"
