A gun is apparently a security blanket and an omnipotent phallic symbol at once.
It is preferable to believe there's a deeper psychology. But the gun-worship arguments you see in this forum do reinforce the idea that it's an infantile attraction, after all.

In the U.S. we live in a society that is fear-based. Men have not been supported in the innate ability to feel safe in this world. They are taught at a young age that they need to conquer and destroy, and are given guns to create this false sense of security.

In this day and age, all you end up with is a huge rise in SSI disability payments.

If the media is so bent on showing on all the useless gun violence well then when are they really going to push and even show all the useless killings from guns Our DOJ And POTUS Gave for free to the drug cartel ?

Perfect,
I not saying it the perfect solution, But don't you think that would be better than just sending them a check.

It's the same money we are already spending at lest it would provide some type of return and just maybe move some people of welfare in the long run.

If your point is that the media reports what sells advertisements, then you are correct. Shootings of innocent children, mass shootings, and shootings of/by celebrities will always make headlines before the average Jane/Joe shooting a cheating spouse.

I thought you were discussing the demographics of of murderers in general, not the media response.

I think we should replace welfare and go back to the federal work program of the 1930's. At lest then society will benefit from the service and those on welfare will have the opportunity to learn both work skills and work ethics.
