In all wars sense the very first one there is a certain amount of collateral damage being or has been done. What pisses me off is these fairweather arm chair warriors who when we aren't doing what we need crying, then when we do hit hard they still cry. If you think I am for killing civilians you are wrong, but the biggest problem is this is a total war. And right or wrong at times the wrong people are going to get killed it is just the very nature of war. When Clinton didn't hit OBL because there were civilians and noncombatants in the target area all we heard was he fucked up,or the left bitching about Bush who let people get water boarded, well you are either fighting to win or loosing. it is a war and people are going to die, and to tell you the truth I really prefer it is their people NOT ours. In my life time in the army I have lost friends in several wars, and to be honest NONE are worth one of these assholes being killed, so do what ever it takes and win this war and get out. or do what the bleeding hearts want to do and just pull out and come home and burry your head in the sand till it happens again.

At his confirmation hearing Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee John Brennan, President Barack Obama’s nominee to head the Central Intelligence Agency, defended Obama’s policy of targeted killings of terrorists, saying that some Americans had a misimpression that “we take strikes to punish terrorists for past transgressions. Nothing could be further from the truth. We only take such action as a last resort to save lives when there’s no other alternative” to avert a threat to the nation. Alluding to some raucous protesters who had interrupted and delayed the hearing, Brennan said, “They really have a misunderstanding of what we do as a government, and the care that we take, and the agony that we go through” to ensure that innocent bystanders or civilians aren’t hit in targeted killings. “People are reacting to a lot of falsehoods that are out there.” He said, “I think the American people would be quite pleased to know that we’ve been very disciplined and very judicious” and that the Obama administration only uses targeted killings “as a last resort.” On American citizens who become involved in al-Qaida or allied group abroad, Brennan said, “any American who joins al-Qaida will know full well that they have joined an organization that is at war with the United States” and that the U.S. government “will do everything possible to destroy that enemy to save America lives.” When Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., asked if such a person could surrender before the U.S. government killed them, Brennan said “they have the ability to surrender anytime, anywhere.” Brennan told Wyden if a person is killed by mistake in a targeted killing, the government should acknowledge it publicly.

If you were under constant threat of small arms fire or rocket attack, you'd probably do everything in your power to protect your kids. " They have lived the last 50 years in one state of war or another... To them, bombs dropping and guns firing has become the normal thing for their people... It is why their nations are so uncivilized. violence is normal. As for the use of civilians and children as shields... It is nothing for a suicide bomber to fill a car with bombs, kidnap kids and use them as a means to hit check points... It is how my father lost a friend who was killed by a VIED. Private snuffy down the road didn't shoot the car that drove through the checkpoint without stopping, he was ignored because he was alone and too far from other troops. (this is done to reduce casualties by attrition)

In fact, I will dig up the thread that I started about it when it actually happened. The question that we should ALL be asking ourselves and more importantly of our government, WHY IS IT FLOATING UP NOW?

User Details are only visible to members.	J and J war is hell and I've seen a lot of it. We have a much better ability to not kill the non combatants than we did in Vietnam and WWII. This is not the same war as either of them and as far as I know we are not at war with Yemen either. The drone strikes are a useful tool in our war on terror but we are quickly becoming the terrorists in many peoples eyes by killing innocent people in some of these strikes.

I honestly believe that we are instigating the next 9-11 with these attacks. It seem like a cheap way in both dollars and blood to keep the wolves away from our door but I think it will ultimately cause many more attacks on Americans all over the world. If we can target them in their homes then we are going to be targeted where ever they can find us. This is the future of warfare. It isn't going to be nice. I'm still trying to get my head around a drone strike killing a 16 year old American teenager. I have seen nothing anywhere that even tries to claim he was guilty of anything. Someone screwed up bigtime. He was not in a "war zone" he was visiting his grandfather and extended family. It is not a crime to be from Yemen. When death comes silently and unexpectedly from the skies and kills innocent people do you not believe that those who are there think it is terrorism? We need to be a whole lot more accurate about who we are killing.
