You are correct the VA is awesome but it has not always been that way. And regulating healthcare means 100's of insurance co. going belly up, its not just me against it its the insurance that wont allow this to happen. Imagine if you will Billions of dollars in campagn contributions going away LOL Not gonna happen AUS.

I grew up in a family that trusted the Feds with our lives. My dad was Army, and I never saw a non-Army/non-VA doctor except for sports team physicals (usually some school provided doctor would show up) until I was in college.
In fact, the Feds continues to do an excellent job of keeping my 82 year old dad and 83 year old mom alive and kicking, despite them both having clogged their arteries with way too much bad stuff early in life, and my dad having diabetes. It's a great system. And the overhead for the Army and VA medical systems are a fraction of the overhead for private insurers. |

You seemed to be asserting that the healthcare would be worthless to everyone who's not already on Medicaid or Medicare. If Federal Healthcare is of less value than my current employer provided healthcare, then I won't use it. If nobody uses it, it won't actually cost more than some initial administrative costs that quickly die with no program to administer.

That would mean we're not paying anything more than what we're currently paying, right? The only way it will cost more is if you're providing health care to someone who isn't currently eligible. |
