Iran has to cut through other nations, bringing their conventional military closer to Israel and thus within range to be shot out of the sky. Further, if at such a war, the US military is likely to be called in to aid Israel in said war. This would give Israel the full command of the air. |

As to might, Israel has more than Iran, but Israel has a problem with air refueling, and Israel has a very small window. This isn't a soil war Robert, it's an air war.

How is Iran a threat to the US:
* Iran holds the largest inventory of ballistic missiles in the Middle East, furthermore, Iran is expanding it's inventory and sophistication of said missiles force, many of which are able to carry a nuclear payload [per James Clapper]. *With a nuclear weapon, they can easily close the Straits of Hormuz, the entrance to the Persian Gulf. *As a result, US oil prices will sky rocket. This is just a couple of reasons. |

How is Iran a threat to the US?
Iran won't directly attack Israel, because tank for tank... Israel is good for killing 3 Iranian tanks for every one of their own... that is if there are any tanks left after the Israeli air force doesn't kill all of the tanks themselves. It is what the Israeli's did to the Egyptians, it is what the US did to the Iraqi army in the first gulf war. Israel can still win against all of its enemies on the ground... we the US have only to unleash the dog from its leash and the Russian Kodiak to not become involved. |

Iran is not much of a threat, their nuke program might be if it gets into the hands of terrorist making dirty IEDs... but then to counter this you simply tell Iran that any dirty bomb or bomb with the signature of their reactors... yields our nuclear reply. (10 for 1 deals)
