Whether anyone is paying too much or too little is in the eyes of the beholder.

I believe that is most cases, the government should pay it's bills on time with a minimum of obligation. There are times and places for deficit spending, however it should be the exception, not the rule.

I also believe in a progressive tax system. Those that have more should pay more than those that have less.

So, cut to the chase. In order to balance the budget and pay down the deficit, I am willing to pay more taxes and will advocate to do so. However, I will also advocate to change spending priorities to those programs I think are more important.

Point of clarification: You will advocate changing the tax laws if you're paying too little?

I don't see your ilk marching down the halls of Sacramento or Washington, D.C. advocating lower taxes. In fact, I see the opposite.

The legal system is often not fair.

And the fair system is often not legal.

I pay what I am legally obligated to pay. If I am legally obligated to pay more or less I will. If I think I am paying too much or too little, I will advocate with my legislators to change the law.

You say "legal" as opposed to "fair". Interesting comment.

I pay my legal share of taxes, thank you very much.

Also do my part to share my time and money with those less fortunate.

If you allow me to prepare you tax return, I will make sure that you share your earnings with those less fortunate.

I would hire Destin and debjack to see that it's fairly distributed.

I, personally, did much better economically during the Bush presidency than I did during Clinton, but not for anything they did.

I spent 7 of the 8 years of the Clinton presidency in college and graduate school. I left school at the beginning of the Bush presidency, and started making some decent money.

My family income went from about 20K at the end of Clinton to about 100K now.

Outsourcing

I was feeling a bit depressed the other day, so I called the Depression Help Hotline and I was put through to a 'call center' in Pakistan. I explained that I was feeling suicidal.

They were very excited at this news and wanted to know if I was licensed to drive a truck or fly an airplane....
