I would be more concerned with knowing who was abusing social services, who was on welfare, and who was forclosed on than who owned any handguns, but have at it if it makes you sleep better at night. Just love the logic, Imagine all the homes that can be easily burglarized , when pospective thieves can have to comfort of knowing which homes DO NOT have a way of protecting themelves. I would welcome such , I think the logic is so stupid it is actually funny.

One stop to the County Clerk and one to my own towns police records division and file a Fredom of Information request for a list of registered gun owners in my city, county as well as talking to a few friends to do the same in the county north of mine. I'm also writing a letter to the Gannett News Paper to do the same for all the towns covered by their publication through out the state of NJ. Actually the last time I wanted information the Police officer incharge of the records actually came out to tell me exactly how to word my request for the information I wanted and went inside and 10 minutes later came out with a printout and they only charged me $.05 a page for the information. Now I know all the SLS Gun Culture doesn't like this, but if I can get a list of sexual preditors in my town and county and state. Why can't I get a list of gun preditors in my area.

Note that money is being appropriated. In 2012, conservatives say the government must spend less. $60 mill for 452 police = $133,000 per officer That's not going to pay for very many years of protection.

New York Journal News Publishes Gun Owners' Names In Westchester, Rockland Counties A New York newspaper is under criticism for publishing the names and addresses of local gun owners on Monday. In a piece titled, "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," the Journal News requested the names and adresses of local residents who are licensed to own handguns through Freedom of Information Law requests. The paper requested information from Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties. The paper was only given the names and addresses of those who have a license to own a handgun. The paper was denied its requests for the amount and type of guns owned by those who have licenses. Putnam County was still working on the request and has not yet released information to the Journal News.

You may cry out about any or all of these unfortunate trends. Some of them overlap, but fixing one does not tend to fix another one. Obviously, Prohibition was tried and considered to be a failure. New York mayor Bloomberg outlawed giant sugary drinks, hoping to head off some of the obesity problem in his city. He's also come out for restricting assault weapons, for what should be obvious reasons.
