TOPIC: How to cure global issues without Al Gore

There is a very simple solution to most of the world’s issues. Everything from global warming, wars, strife every where, over population, a large portion of the AIDS crisis, Nitrogen pollution, over fishing. The whole kit and caboodle. “The H5N1 bird flu virus has mutated to infect people more easily, although it still has not transformed into a pandemic strain, researchers said on Thursday.” We need a good round of a strong flu epidemic to decrease the world’s population by 1/2. or more. If over crowding of the current population of humans was relieved, the earth would be able to fix it’s self. I know that it’s not a popular notion, but most of our troubles descend from over population. It’s hard to wage war etc...when you are concerned with just surviving. Classic Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. The flu would clear out the weak, infected, and the over crowded. It would decrease our foot print on the earth. We have simply over populated our planet. The majority of our current global issues stem from this simple fact. Decrease the amount of humans and decrease the amount of damage done to ourselves and our planet. I sincerely hope this happens before some nut job detonates a dirty bomb in our bread basket. Merely one biologist’s idea to cure our ills. Mischief

Now, it appears he's making another big profit buying Apple's (AAPL) stock on the cheap. Al GoreAccording to a filing with the Securities and Exchanges Commission, Gore -- a director on Apple's board -- exercised an option to purchase nearly 60,000 shares of the tech giant at the bargain basement price of $7.48, costing him a total of about $445,000. But with Apple's current market price at about $500 a share, Gore's holdings are worth $29.75 million, giving him a huge windfall-on paper at least. Gore, however, could easily afford to buy Apple's stock at the prevailing market price. In early January, the environmental crusader sold his Current TV venture to Qatar-based news organization Al Jazeera for $500 million. Published reports say the sale of Gore's 20 percent stake in the network - worth an estimated $100 million - would bring his net worth to about $300 million. The vice president's purchase comes at a time when the tech giant's shares have been under massive selling pressure, as investors doubt its ability to ward off competitive pressures and maintain its reputation for innovative products. This week, the stock hit its lowest level since Feburary 2012, just ahead of what analysts say will be a pivotal earnings report next week. And this is a man who the libs hail as a hero for the poor. All he is, is someone who knows how to shear sheep.

Federal prosecutors have put most of those mob bosses behind bars, but unions haven’t renounced using blackmail to get what they want. They simply use more sophisticated methods to do the same thing. Take the way unions exploit environmental concerns through Project Labor Agreements. Under PLAs, businesses promise to hire only union members — or else. Why would businesses sign such agreements? Because unions threaten to use environmental regulations to shut them down unless they sign the PLA. The law requires companies to get environmental permits to begin major construction projects. The process takes time, and community groups may object to awarding the permits. Unions can misuse these laws to kill a project outright — or at least delay it for several years. They can file environmental objections, conduct their own environmental impact assessment that shows that letting it go forward would harm the Earth, and use their influence to block companies from getting the necessary permits. Many businesses face an offer they can’t refuse: Sign a PLA and hire more expensive union members to construct their buildings, or the union will use environmental laws to shutter the project. Sound like blackmail? That’s because it is. Only this time unions use government bureaucrats instead of armed thugs to intimidate businesses. It happens repeatedly: — Gaylord Entertainment planned to build a $1 billion hotel and convention center on San Diego’s waterfront. The San Diego Building and Construction Trades Council, however, insisted that Gaylord sign a PLA adding $100 million to the total cost or the union would tie up the project for years with environmental lawsuits. Gaylord pulled out, costing San Diego thousands of new jobs. — The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 100 objected to a solar power plant being built in Fresno, Calif. Solar power plants are usually considered environmentally friendly, but this plant was being built with non-union labor. The IBEW discovered many environmental problems with the project and attempted to block it. Fortunately, the Fresno City Council saw through the attempted extortion and voted to reject the union’s complaints. — Indeck Energy Services applied to build several co-generation power plants in upstate New York. The Building and Construction Trades Council also had environmental objections to this project and requested a meeting with Indeck’s president. At the meeting, however, instead of discussing the environment, the union bosses threatened to “stop every Indeck project in New York unless it went union.” Indeck capitulated, signed a PLA, and the union reversed its earlier objections, strongly urging the government to grant the environmental permits.
