Let me just address some of your comments without copy and pasting the whole post:

"The lib's in congress are responsible for American deaths in Iraq."

The lib's in congress are not responsible for American deaths. Being in a "combat zone" is responsible for our young men and women being killed. There are no lib's sporting weapons over there.

"I have friends in Iraq that work for 4 of the private security firms, some have better soldiers than others but these guys are patriots first and getting paid second."

There may indeed be patriots over there but without the pay.....they would not be there or they'd be there as "part" of OUR armed forces for the meager pay we compensate them with.

"would you go and risk dying for $10-$20K a month?"

If I were a young man and properly trained, I may.

"Are you qualified in the first place?"

No, I am not qualified in the first place. However, my qualifications is a moot point. I do not need to be qualified to express an opinion on the matter. Nor do I believe that you in your 50's are qualified either, just my opinion.

"If not them WHO?"

My point was not "who" but that these people are mercenaries who prior to Oct 5th was not accountable for thier actions. Control is being exerted according to reports as of Oct 5th which would "if followed" bring this group and other groups under the control of the management of this war.

Now back to the comensation. There is a young man from my area (can't think of his name) who is "missing" from one of our colleges down here. He was on active duty, was stationed in Iraq serving in combat, left the military to persue college and decided to return to Iraq as an escort on convoys. His televised (interview) reason for going back........$6,000 per month compensation. Therefore, I have to assume he went back for the compensation, not out of a since of patriotism.

And last thought.....it is NOT being a Traitor to voice opposition with any war! If that were the case about 65% of our citizens would be traitors.

Pete, we had the lib discussion before, so I know you are a moderate, too bad the libs are running your great party.

The lib's in congress are responsible for American deaths in Iraq. they follow or lead the terrorists talking points...when they speak anti American or approve of General betray us, and add their pet projects on a Military funding bill they are committing Treason and should be tried and hung.

I have friends in Iraq that work for 4 of the private security firms, some have better soldiers than others but these guys are patriots first and getting paid second. Risking their lives for Iraqis and American civilians(and others), they in fact just rescued the Polish representative, when it was not their mission...would you go and risk dying for $10-$20K a month? Are you qualified in the first place? If not them WHO?

They are private contractors. They get a job to deliver an item or a person from point A to point B. They will do what ever it takes to complete the task. They will not shoot first unless fire upon. If United States doesn't want to be involved in a delivery transaction or clear the roads, then they shouldn't stop private contractors. As for Mercenaries, everyone is looking to make an extra Dollar. As for politics, US Government and Iraqi Government doesn't care who get's killed, all they care who they look in the World eyes. Yesterday I was watching Military Channel about WW2. US made a machine gun that was the best weapon of it's time. It would prevent 1000's of US Solders getting killed, but the reason US never let the weapons out because they were afraid if Germans would get possession of this weapon, they will use it against US. It's all politics. US didn't wanted to be seen week and stupid that Germans stole US weapon and killed American army.

United Stated always was the most powerful Country in the world, I think they are worried that soon they might not. Even China is ahead of US on putting a man on the MOON.

I think US is the ones who made a BIG fuzz over this issue in IRAQ. They want to be seen that they are piece makers. OK, then get US troops out of IRAQ and send them back to their families.

It's all propaganda. I don't think Blackwater solders did anything wrong. They were just protecting themselves. The Blackwater USA founder Erik Prince has better politics understanding then our own president Bush.

"Funny the libs condem Blackwater(former US Soldiers) and not the terrorists...guess that shows which side they are on. "

If you're referring to me as a lib you're entirely off base and you should do some reading on Blackwater. They are not "only" former US Soldiers as they claim to have "international soldiers". They further testified to Congress that they could not "punish" rouge soldiers. They are "mercenaries" who are there for the dollars. They have no allegiance to any country only the dollar. And I am not condemning Blackwater to support terrorists. They are in the news for killing civilians not terrorists. It is OUR Army department which accused them of an "unprovoked attack" using "excessive force" in thier attack in September, not me.

"Seems to me they are under US jurisdiction to me, seems the US is doing something to oversee the group."

As of Oct 5th, I would agree with you but they were only under the control of money prior to that.

Blackwater claims to be "international" operating out of a US based headquarters....I believe in North Carolina (could be south). Therefore, they have members who are not American. And until Congress acted on Oct 2, just a few days ago there was not oversight of thier operations. I forget the date but there was a Blackwater soldier who is thought to have murdered an Iraqi dignitary and was whisked out of the country by Blackwater management. This guy has never been seen again. Blackwater testifying before Congress stated that they could not punish that missing person. Then on Sept 17th there were 11 Iraqis killed prompting the prime minister of Iraq to say Blackwater would be expelled from Iraq and has since backed off on expulsion. The US Army concluded that in that Sept incident, the Blackwater unit had acted "without provacation" and with "excessive force". In an effort to gain control of Blackwater operations, as of Oct 5th, 2007 every Blackwater operation will have State Department agents supervise, every Blackwater vehicle will have video equipment installed by the State Department and all radio communications between the State Dept, military, and civilian authorities who supervise them on all Blackwater convoys will be recorded.
