Only bicycle riders should be taxed for bike paths, and trails. This cost should be collected through the sale of bicycles and the parts and accessories. There should be licensing, and registration of these idiots that get on highways and endanger everybody.

Jack or anyone, do you believe the gun industry should pay for improved security? Should guns and ammo have much higher taxes than they now have, to pay for the prevention and the damage done by them?

I wonder how we spend protecting less than 500 people in the White House and on Capitol Hill.

One of my points is that the business model for these insane individuals that kill unarmed, unprotected vulnerable people does not required an AR-15. It can be done with other weapons. Banning the AR-15 or the high capacity magazines will not stop these attacks. The operating method is most dependant upon having, finding, and planning for a 'field of unguarded sheep to slaughter,' not so much the particular weapon. In a planned-out scenario, any firearm can kill dozens of people.

It's an old and accurate statement that criminals hit the easiest targets. They break into the house with flimsy locks, they mug the feeble but rich-looking old lady, etc... A movie theater, a school full of kids fit the easy to kill unprotected field of sheep model that these psychos are looking for.

We have all kinds of airport securityin place with 10's of thousands of people employed in this endeavor. We do this because we have seen what determined people can do with just some box cutters. We always have plenty of police and security at a football or basketball game. I think it is reasonable that any assembly of 100 or more people should have protection, too. And the top of this list is schools. it's not just psychos that want to shoot the place up, it's also non-custodial parents trying to take their kids, gangs and many other issues.

We now live in the jet-age, the computer-age, the internet-age... Shouldn't our security be better than it was in the 'Leave It to Beaver' age?

Just, 2/3 of the world has easy acess to guns... Most are third world nations where you need them... In the US you do not need them, they do not protect you from a tyrannical takeover of the US government and the loss of the vote, as you and your buddies will be blasted into but sized bits from 30,000 feet into their air... By a pilot in the safty of his aircraft.

M-16 vs F-16 = M-16 user dead.

You will not take and hold any land as you will be surrounded and them if need be to stop you... Gased with any weapon needed. After all we speak of tyrrany and tyrants, not democracies and elected officials. They don't need the votes and support of the people. Simply kill enough civilians and the survivors will obey until you lose power by some means... Then you are dead too.
