Sweetbutt:

"Thompson is well loved in TN. He should carry not only TN but most of the southern states and states like CA and CO. This should be enough to get him close to the election."

So who in the Political Forum predicted that it would be McCain versus Obama for the presidency in 2008?

Dzzzy, no money, got in too late, everyone who was a mover and shaker had already committed to another candidate. too bad, he was the only conservative in the race.

Bump bump bump...another one bites the dust...

Republican Fred Thompson, the actor-politician who attracted more attention as a potential presidential candidate than as a real one, quit the race for the White House on Tuesday after a string of poor finishes in early primary and caucus states.

"Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort," the former Tennessee senator said in a brief statement.

why did he even run? dont understand it

a real conservative?

Billing records show that former Senator Fred Thompson spent nearly 20 hours working as a lobbyist on behalf of a group seeking to ease restrictive federal rules on abortion counseling in the 1990s, even though he recently said he did not recall doing any work for the organization.

In questionnaires Mr. Thompson answered during his 1994 Senate campaign, he checked a box stating that he believed abortion should be legal under any circumstances during the first three months of pregnancy and said, “I do not believe that abortion should be criminalized.” He has also opposed a constitutional amendment banning all abortion, also on the grounds of states’ rights.

it will be interesting to see how he does in the first debate..
