No, this is what you really said........... ""I mostly agree. Except that GWB put boots on the ground in major, sustained combat operations abroad for the first time since Vietnam. Afghanistan was an understandable and defensible response to Sept. 11. Invading Iraq was an elective war. " "

"Leaving out pertinent detail intentionally is SPINNING."

LMAO. Like your leaving out that little "detail" of the presidential veto power while insisting that Congress has complete control over spending?

You are prolly the only person blind to how silly you look when you say shit like this.

"You're implication was that GWB was a war monger that somehow took us to war all on his own."

Really?

In response to your saying that the notion "it was Bush's 'elective war' [is] ridiculous," I said "Bush was the one who elected to invade. Period." Just hours ago you agreed with me that it was his "option."

I'll bet you think Vietnam was 'elective'. So Congress overrides a veto to pass the War Powers act, Clinton and Obama ignore it, GWB follows it, and you retards still claim that it was 'elective'.

You need to get your partisan head out of your ass.

Was Afghanistan elective, or did Congress order the President to go to war?

You're implication was that GWB was a war monger that somehow took us to war all on his own. Leaving out pertinent detail intentionally is SPINNING.

So, what wars have we been in that weren't elective?

"Congress, includings Democrats, elected to give GWB the option to go to war."

--I never said otherwise, even though all Presidents have claimed (and actually used) such powers inherently, regardless of the WPA. Does your wife's permission to do something you routinely decide on your own volition, somehow make your decision hers?

And don't look now, but your reference to GWB exercising his "option" to make war, essentially admits the correctness of my observation that the invasion was "elective" on his part.

*preparing for Perf to quibble that "optional" and "elective" are somehow different*

"All the statements are spin and half-truths, which is typical for you."

--From the dood who two days ago pledged his love for all things simple and straightforward, in defense of his simplistic and flawed "analysis" of a complex issue. And the same dood who, in his post just below, agreed with my "spin" (prolly without realizing it).

The self-righteousness is amusing, though.
