I consider my self Middle class and I am doin OK and my refund has gone up 27% over 1999. HHHMMMM I wont quote from dems I will quote on how this effects me, Am I better off today? do I pay less taxes? do I feel safer? All answered YES!!!!!

Only because the income for the wealthiest Americans has grown much faster during the Bush years than the income for the middle class. In fact, between 2000 and 2005, the real median income (inflation adjusted) of households headed by someone under 65 is down 5.4%. At the same time, in 2000, 63.6% of the population had employment-based healthcare coverage. By 2005, this rate had dropped to 59.5%. Long term, this is not a good sign for America. Societies where the middle class is squeezed for an extended period of time become dangerous and unstable.

The study, by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, also shows that tax rates for middle-income earners edged up in 2004, the most recent year for which data was available, while rates for people at the very top continued to decline.

" What's very odd is that it is described as "whining" when you point out that under Bush, the burden of taxes on the wealthy has dropped while the burden of taxes paid by the middle class has risen. Meanwhile, it is reasoned political commentary to label taxing the millions of dollars inhereted by those lucky enough to be born to wealthy parents as a "death tax" It's commentary to point out that the upper 5% of wage-earners pay a majority of income taxes ... but it's whining to point out that the contribution of Social Security taxes (primarily paid by the middle class) to the total Federal Budget has grown to almost 40%. It's not whining to debate what is economically sustainable over the long term, or what affect different tax policies will have in shaping how society looks in the future. We grew the most prosperous middle class in the world during an era of higher taxes on the wealthier classes - and the middle class is shrinking as taxes on the wealthy class are cut.
