User Details are only visible to members.	Hmmmmm. The conservative, liberal labels have been plaguing me for the last few years. I'm a frustrated stump-jumper from the boony woods of NH. In our state we have to declare a party affiliation in order to vote in the primaries. An act in itself I find increasingly offensive. There is no "declaration" for independent or "American" At the core of it all I want to believe that I am an American. In Republican circles I am considered a moderate. In liberal circles I'm considered a right-winger (which I don't subscribe to, and know many who are). Before the last election one of the people I consider an right-wing extremist made some comments to me that our congressman was too moderate and that "we" needed to get him out of office. Well that rocket scientist got his wish and the democratic candidate was elected (and I'm pretty sure that's not what this boderline nazi meant). I once tried to have a conversation about responsible fiscal policies with this ass (who is quite weathy by the way) and he said that all the little people should just get another job to pay the bills. (he's a former state representative to, by the way) It doesn't take a polysci major to see the coming tide. The Republicans are going to take a further shelacking in Nov. 2008. The current administration has made horrible mistakes. Don't you all worry one little bit either. The Democrats will F*(& it up too. We all know that power corrupts absolutely. It never fails that ego and arrogance always seem to poison common sense and prudence. Locally Jeanne Shaheen has announced that she will run again for the U.S. Senate and most of us abhored her abominable management of the state finances. It's not that she's a democrat, she just sucks horribly. We currently have a Democratic govoner who is awesome! It's not the always the party affiliation. I sincerely believe that there are many well educated, greedy, arrogant, and self-centered asses who partake of the party politique' on both the left and right to advance their own ends. (public service my ass!) I am just an average voter who struggles to see through all the shit, and tries to see what will work for our country. I don't pretend to have the key to it all. Have we all lost our focus on what should be good for America? As idealistic as it sounds, isn't teamwork and comprimise still the best answer? What the hell are we doing?

User Details are only visible to members.	Debjack: The term conservative and liberal is applied to all facets of our life. My definition is simply my definition (right or wrong). It was also intended to be generalized with a touch of humor. But now that you have my attention. I am a conservative in the role of the government meaning: The government should allow the people to make this country great not the other way around. I believe in a powerful military. I am a business owner and a devout capitalist but with a social conscience - I give back to the community by participating and donating. As a Hispanic, it will shock other minorities that I am against affirmative action; discrimination is discrimination. People from other countries living here should learn to speak English. I am a liberal in terms of my lifestyle - people should live their lives - provided they are not harming others - free of moral restrictions. I am not religious but I am spiritual. I believe people from other countries should hold on to their culture for as long as they can. Although I do not consider myself a moderate, others may call me that. To me a moderate is an indecisive person. But, of course, it is my opinion to have and to hold.

User Details are only visible to members.	By the tone of the memo's posted on this forum, I am truly amazed as to how many conservative members there are. Yet the lifestyle chosen is one of a liberal. It is truly an oxymoron. My definition as it pertains to the governments role: Liberal is a socialist who won't admit it. Conservative is a capitalist who is broke. My definition as it pertains to the lifestyle: Liberal is a swinger who would advertise on television. Conservative is a swinger still in the closet.

" I take it since the liberals can't have a successful talk radio show then you must be talking about Rush and friends. I think that was my point. Moveons message is getting lost on democrats and liberals but are catching the attention of the conservative talk radio hosts.
