See, this is precisely what I always complain about, how hard some on the Left work to pain the Right as an evil entity that prays to those of the likes of Rush.

But here is a clue for you pudgy.

VA is a Conservative with many social liberal outlooks. I am as well, I am pro choice, I am pro gays, marriage adoption etc... I am a greeny tree hugger, I support immigration reform. And I am nauseated by those of your likes. And while there are exceptions to every rule, it is YOUR kind who created the current gap between the classes, your kind that is responsible for why there is a division so deep between the two parties. It is people with your mentality both, in the Whitehouse and regular citizenry that are unable to come to any terms.

"Just like there are Democrats who are proponents of plenty of things that are not Democratic party platforms, such as universal health care, price controls, nationalization of industries, staggeringly high taxes on income and even wealth, etc."

If you're going to quote me, don't edit what I say to change its meaning.

"... Democratic party platforms, such as universal health care, price controls, nationalization of industries, staggeringly high taxes on income and even wealth,.."

Democrats would like America's income earners to stagger under their tax burden? And the wealthy especially?

The maximum income tax rate in France is at 75%, which is just about twice what it is for wealthy Americans, and could be considered "staggering" if you need that much money.

Some other pretty strong economies tax their wealthiest from 50-60% : Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Netherlands, UK, Japan, Belgium. Also above 45% : Norway, Australia, Israel, Germany.

Most people in these countries think it's "staggering" that the US citizens put up with no guaranteed health, from a government that manages to police the entire world.

or you can look at your liberal democratic practices....

...One advantage of being a Democrat politician is that, as Bill Clinton established, you are not required even to pretend to have any moral standards whatsoever. This allows a degenerate named Robert Menendez, DEMOCRAT, to get caught fornicating with child prostitutes without threatening his lucrative Senate career. During unauthorized trips to the Dominican Republic, Menendez has reportedly rented the bodies of girls as young as 16. Whatever he pays them, it isn’t enough.

...and to think the lefties want people to think they care about children, yet they victimize them for their own perverted pleasure.

Vabeach...a fundamental disagreement seems to be that you conciser a "party" to be it's nuts and bolts, I conciser a "party" the people in it. We can agree to disagree, but I am never onc to be shy about assigning guilt by association, because in MY life, I don't stand with anyone or anything I find abhorrent.

I just looked up the "republicans want you dead" comment, and while it was a stupid way to try to make a point, put in context it has an element of truth. Indeed private insurance has a motive to deliver the minimum amount of coverage as to hit their bottom line with the least impact, and the death of the policy holder plays little role in their thinking. Not to mention I have reading this very forum the sentiment that certain republican posters want liberals dead...and so it goes.

All of this is digression from the OP, and I stand by my opinion that the swing lifestyle and non secular, cultural and social right leanings are mutually exclusive and if someone is practicing both, they are they consummate hypocrites

....and on that...I bid you good night

The "fringe" is not the party. Please stop with this absurd argument that the Republican party called anyone a slut. What a few blogging idiots (or even a lot of blogging idiots) write on discussion fora does not constitute a party platform.

I pay plenty of attention. I'm not going to get into a pissing contest over who has the most outrageous quotes (such as Schultz's "[Republicans] want you dead!" rant). The reason is because he is not the voice of the Democratic party any more than Rush Limbaugh is of the Republican party, thus I do not hold the party responsible for his ravings. I'll repeat my insistence that the notion of the Republican party calling her a "slut" is absurd. If you wish to insist otherwise, go for it. But I'm not arguing this infantile point any further.

As for how I know your views on libertarianism - I only need to look a little further down in this thread.

I have been active in the politics forum here for a long time, and those who are in it are well aware of my viewpoints. I got out of them because I was tired of wasting my keystrokes on people who just shout, mock and insult. Not a lot has changed.

"You and I both know the answer, and it's very much "relevant".

No we don't.... and no it's not

YES there is a double standard, and the GOP created it

They day I hear a Liberal Democrat professing a direct line to the will of god in terms of morality, chastity and modestly, I will judge their behavior, words, and deeds by the same standard as republicans....

Time after time after time after time, from escort services in Louisiana to Idaho Senators in public airport restrooms, to "walking the Appalachian trail" the GOP constantly finds itself having to do damage control. Why? Because they set standards for OTHERS they can not keep themselves

Vabeach...Don't confuse me mocking with keeping it real...and actually, if what you say about the issues I asked about is true...kudos Some who claim to be Libertarian think the term only applies to guns, prayer in school and not renting to minorities.

You say you know my views on libertarianism? I don't recall mentioning them so I'm not sure how. I make a distinction between lower case l libertarianism and Upper case L libertarianism....IMO lower case l is sustainable, upper case L is not. The last time it was tried we ended up having to amend the constitution for the 12, 13th and 14th time to fix it.

Finally...it you don't know that Limbaugh's "slut" comment went viral across the Right wing fringe media complex, chat rooms discussion forums and water coolers...you were NOT paying attention.

Me, I can't think of anything I have heard from Ed Schultz, Maddow, MHP or Sharpton (white he has been at MSNBC) that I would feel a need to distance myself from. I may not agree 100% with everything they say, but I don't recall them denouncing the character of a young women who feels her insurence should cover the costs of her medication...but if you can give me some examples of statements made by these folks for which I should distance myself from them, by all means run them by me, and I'll take a look

Finally, back to the OP, if indeed you are stepped in libertarianism, my suggestion would be to distance yourself from the American Taliban, otherwise know as the Xtian right, and culturally and socially"conservative" Republicans...particularly those who have a bible in one hand and and someone other than their spouses genitals in the other

"Would the Democrats have done anything different? We'll never know, and it's irrelevant"

What a cowardly answer. You and I both know the answer, and it's very much "relevant".

"being a Libertarian....you are of course pro choice, pro gay marriage, pro immigration reform and all for same sex couple adoption...right? "

Pro choice: Yes Pro gay marriage: Yes (I actually hold precisely the same opinion as Obama does on this) Same sex couple adoption: Yes Immigration reform: Yes, although I do not have a very well formed opinion on it.

Are we having a conversation or are you just going to be a mocking dickhead? My post bemoaning the state of the politics fora was very much about you as well - just a new face spewing the same angry crap as others on here do.

As for "slut" becoming a Republican battle cry - you're telling me that *I* am the one who needs to get real?

"LOL"
