" Nope - but very few of the Corporate heads have access to the proprietary code that runs the voting machines. You can't even supoena that code if you're challenging an election result. Complete black box.

" Well, for what it's worth, the head of Diebold didn't tell anyone he was going to influence the 2006 election. Back in 2003 he told Republicans publicly that he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year." Perhaps the heads of Diebold fall in that 20% of the American population that has abandoned Bush since 2004.

We closed down the S&L hearings way too soon, for example - Whitewater, which we spent millions on, was only the tip of an ugly iceberg which cost taxpayers tens of billions. If there are ongoing welfare or medicaid or medicare scams, let's run them down. Illegal immigrants? I'm with you - its going to cause inflation when meat packers and construction companies have to charge a lot more, but we should strictly enforce workplace laws, and the illegal immigrant flow will dry up overnight. Dem voting fraud? LOL - let's talk Diebold voting machines that don't record votes in Florida as well. If we're going to clean house, let's be non-partisan about it!

Although with all the money that the US is pumping into rebuilding Iraq, paying for Iraqi social services, supplying the Iraqi Army .... is there any real difference between Iraqi government dollars wasted, and US taxpayer dollars wasted? We've pretty much committed ourselves to paying whatever it takes to prop up the Iraqi Government and economy - to the point where the DOD is now starting a $1 billion spending program to employ Iraqi nationals. Now, I'm not saying that this is even necessarily a bad idea - I wish the Bush Government were as committed to social spending on the American People as it is to social spending on the Iraqis. But it illustrates that the distinction between US and Iraqi dollars is kind of moot. I hope that all the Republicans don't feel the same way as Committee Member Dan Burton from Indiana, who said about the investigation: "We are in a war against terrorists, to have a blame meeting isn't, in my opinion, constructive" After all - tracking down those who defrauded the US Government in the past certainly won't do anything to discourage future fraud, will it Dan?

Well - the Dems are doing what they promised to do - start investigating exactly WHAT may have been happening with the endless stream of tax dollars that America has been sending to Iraq. Like, say - the 363 tons of 100 dollar bills shipped on pallets in cargo planes to deliver to the Coalition Provision Authority - whose chief comptroller was running an embezzling and kickback ring. Patrick McHenry (R-NC): "This is a show trial" Henry Waxman (D-CA): "I suggest the Congressman return under his rock."
