The federal government trumps state, end of story. Any law enforcement failing to accept this ought to hand in their badge and gun. Failure to do so should result in termination of their employment or until such time as their employment is terminated, their county or higher ought to receive no federal money in any way shapes form or fashion. Want to act as your own nation... Want to break away from the union? Go ahead. Your land locked and by the time the active duty military strips your national guard of all of the big toys the US government helped it to obtain... The military bases defunded and the other federal programs ended... The state will be so in debt that porto Rico would be more of an asset that the break away state. Again, let me make this clear. Land locked. No air travel, no sea travel. The only goods you get are what we allow you to get. States like Texas might have sea ports, but their waters are patrolled by the US navy which would redirect all travel away from Texas by the point of their guns. Sure Mexico could help txases out... Until we end trade with them over providing such help. So who wants to break away from the US now? I dare you.

But Clarke says he can either whine about budget cuts that have reduced the number of deputies or call on citizens to work with officers in some situations.

Since Colorado has been the state in which multiple mass murders have occurred using assault weapons, in which innocent citizens had no chance to defend themselves, the meaningful statements of the Sheriff will become a higher standard which characterizes the increasing public concern and desire to limit the sale and ownership of assault weapons.
