I do feel though that Chicago has failed its youth and citizens by screwing up the CPS (Chicago Public Schools), over, taxation (pay the highest sales tax in the nation) and taking away programs to help. " Liberals. Taxed the productive so much they all moved out. No money left for their 'programs to help'. Schools and School Boards run by liberals with the idiotic Dept. of Education at the top. Liberalism always creates the exact opposite of it's stated intent.

Robert, the conservatives have been blaming the nations ills on books, movies, music and video games for years. Everytime one of their little darlings does something unimaginable it's everyone/things fault. No way were they bad parents or were too involved in their lives that they didn't have a clue what the kid's doing.

History proves that they will find another weapon. You only have to ask yourself on question. Were there murders before there were guns?? Yes there were, and a larger portion of the populace was killed violently then than now. The reasons I say this are many. One is that those who dealt death by use of sword, ax, archery gear, or spear, were usually wearing some sort of protection. Medical science was nonexistent then and infections were a result of the violence at that time too. Another reason that applies to today's world is that when someone thinks you are in possession of a firearm that is usually a deterrent. Not all the time but a good part of the time. There is a big fantasy that all was good in the world before guns came along. That is completely and totally not true. Firearms are used in many, many defensive situations as well. The main stream media has to be kicked in the gonads to get them to cover these stories.... Do you realize that the shooter in the mall in Portland Oregon was stopped by an armed civilian???? Most people never heard that part of the story....

User Details are only visible to members.	I will not consider taking away rights of another, simply because of fear. That is what weapon bans are, taking away rights. I do not count gang violence as part of the equation as I see gangs as terrorist and the family members of the gangs killed in the cross fire is the price the gang member chose to pay when they entered the gang life, when the gang members parents failed to remove the gangs by legal and if need be illegal means. As for domestic incidences... Spousal abuse is most often commuted with bare hands or objects at hand. Sadly rarely reported until some one is shot or stabbed. We are not at a state of civil war or a emergency status which warrants martial law (which is a temporary control and limitation of your rights by the government and without the courts...) Which the government must still have our elections for our elected officials, martial law or not. Why do I defend a right I don't care a out or use? There is no way of being certain, but this much is true people have been killing each other since the begining of time, What makes you think outlawing guns will stop it? Fact- Hammers have killed more people in this country last year than rifles, should we ban them too? or register them? Also , by the way feinstien is talking he could have gotten nulear device and blown up the greater portion of CT.
