I really can't believe this incident has gone on for as long as it has. It's stupid for the Brits to be playing politics with the lives of these sailors. Even Dubya new how to handle a problem like this during his early days back in 2001 when an American spy plane went down in China. It's real simple: concede that you're in the wrong, get the sailors back, then ratchet up diplomatic pressures. If this escalates I don't think it will end well for those sailors or the United Kingdom.

Defence Secretary Des Browne said the review was aimed at making rules consistent across the armed forces. It follows a row after two Navy crew members held in Iran sold stories. Leading Seaman Faye Turney sold her story to ITV1's Trevor Macdonald and the Sun newspaper - reportedly for a six-figure sum. Some of the money received for the interview with Leading Seaman Turney will go to navy families. Meanwhile Arthur Batchelor, 20, the youngest of the British sailors to be held captive, told the Daily Mirror about his "nightmare" at the hands of his captors and how he "cried like a baby" in his cell.

User Details are only visible to members.	Oh by the way ER: LONDON - Britain on Monday banned all military service members from talking to the media in return for payment, a day after it said the 15 marines and sailors who were held captive in Iran could sell their stories.

User Details are only visible to members.	Wow Lucky, that was far more lucid than your usual responses. I'm flabbergastedand flummoxed. I think the market window for their stories is now, and every minute they delay to cash in is a dollar less they'll probably make. I frankly don't think these guys went through any heart-wrenching ordeal; not anywhere comprable to the Iran hostages of the 1970s. Two weeks playing chess and watching soccer matches in an Iran detention center could hardly make an interesting book. I think several of these people just cracked under the pressure immediately when they were taken and started apologizing to the Iranians just to gain leniency. Then when this thing went international and they all came home, now it's time to make ammends for being such sissies. Some of them are just being opportunists and selling stories for a quick payday. No matter how you slice it, this whole incident has been an embarasment from start to finish.

But I feel it would be premature to sell their stories especially to tabloids why not write a book. several of the hostages from Iran in the 70s wrote books on their ordeal. And since their govenment gave them the OK I am supposing they are not going to betray their country. That being said I feel it is too early for them to sell their stories, and their behavior while in captivity from what we saw was rediculas to say the least. Name rank and serial # bottom line. And truth be told they would have had to kill me I would have opened fire at once and this conversation would have been about the start of hostilities with Iran, not weather or not my story was being told to a tabloid.

It's treason in your mind for these sailors to sell their stories to the tabloids now because you erroneously think they have not yet been debriefed? Lucky, the UK government has given them the OK to sell. So, knowing that is it still treason? Either they have the right to sell their country out or they do not. Which is it?

No not at all, Truly if in fact this is true at this point of not even being debriefed and no charges being brought, this act would be premature for them to profit from their ordeal. It certainly is their right to do with the story as they please however timing is everything. Why would I think that Capitalism is evil? It has delivered me good living and has caused me to actually work for a living instead of depending on others to survive. So socialism would be better? Not working for a living? Success depends on hard work and when I work hard to get what I have I will be damned if I want to give that away. This story has nothing to do with capitalism er nadda.

User Details are only visible to members.	But Lucky, what about the virtues of capitalism? Isn't it the right of these men and women to sell their ordeals on the free market to the highest bidder for a healthy profit? You're not conceding that capitalism is immoral, are you?
