"beiving the health and well being of future generations, not to mention cost containment on healthcare costs in the future is the responsibility of the governemnt of we the people is "far left""

Believing that the health and well being of future generations is the governments business is center. Wanting the government to provide food stamps to the needy, housing to the homeless (stalinistic) and skills to the willing, but skilless worker is the fizzy center left.

But to want the government to ban or heavily restrict things which are becoming increasingly simple to manufacture. To ban material which is objectable because willing adukts are willing to sell their body for sex (porn or prostitution) let alone the creation of a PC world is wanting a nanny state and ideals of the far left.

Remember that the catholic (namely romean) church said that it was their business to make rule for the good of the people... And for that good we had wars over desert sand and the brutal torture, maiming of decenters, to say nothing about the human sacrofices to the fires of collective damnation to hell with public burnings of witches and warlocks.

So I like it in the fuzzy left of center... Closer to the center as both extremes that you and others live in give us witch burnings for different reasons... Or not so different after all? Control over the population through fear, not the prosuit of understanding and edication.

1) The level of edication on this subject is hampered by ignorance which stems from sex edication not being taught in school. Anything to do with reproduction is skipped or the kids are told to ask their parents... In cities like mine, that is the blind leading the blind and deaf.

2) "Sometimes I think America needs a nanny. perhaps not a live in nanny, but one who looks in now and then"

That explains a lot about your politics and why you are far left.

I thought it was just a matter of leveling the playing field, to ban those corporate gift packets featuring infant formula. Because there's money to be made, there's pressure to make a sales pitch about the ease and convenience of artificial milk. And it could be argued, that is just wrong.

Government doesn't have a financial stake in it the way the formula manufacturers do. There's no immediate profit made by anyone, in breastfeeding. Long term, a healthier community is less of a financial burden on everyone.,

Swgoldencouple,,in a perfect world, or even a perfect America..i would agree, however a good portion of America has shown it can't find it's collective ass with both hands, even with a road map. I am one who believes the "promote the general welfare" in the preamble to the constitution was more then just a flip remark or afterthought. Sometimes I think America needs a nanny. perhaps not a live in nanny, but one who looks in now and then

I am a for education and good nutritional choices. I'm not for people looking over someone shoulder and judging and scolding. Even without perfect nutrition, the baby does get aspects of the mother's immune system and as the baby grows, the baby gets more of his or her nutrition from sources other than breast milk.

Swgoldencouple...first, thank you for getting the thread back on track.

First and foremost, formula being locked up has more to do with the fact that it is one of the most common items to be shop lifted than it has to do with any social engineering...but with that said The thing is, breast feeding is to a great extent, only as healthy for the baby as the mothers diet, so any breast feeding initiatives should include counseling and assistance to be sure the mothers in question are getting proper daily nutrition. No doubt however, this would be scorned by those who would concider it an intrusion by the EVEIL Governemnt...meanwhile, the US has an infant mortality rate compared to other nations, in the same statistical range as some 3rd world countries Also, I agree, much like other women issues, men who reuse to be a part of the solution and educate themselves on the subjects, really would be better to butt out

Goodness! I see a bunch of men debating the virtues of breast feeding, so I'll add my two cents.

People seem to have strong feelings about this subject, and the way that men feel and react can go a long way in supporting or discouraging women while breast feeding. I am so shocked that so many me have such strong opinions and often such little knowledge.

Yes, breast feeding is healthier. Benefits continue long after one month. Both child and mother benefit from breast feeding.

Some woman find breast feeding extremely easy. Others find it difficult, while others find it impossible. No choice makes a woman evil. People should make choices based on what is best for their family. People should have the facts to make a decision and others should back the hell off.

One of the coolest things about breast milk is that it changes. The milk changes as the baby develops through each feeding and through the months. It gives them just what they need when they need it. Babies that are breast fed have healthier immune systems both long and short term, fewer allergies both short and long term, and better weight control for adults that were breast fed. Breast feeding woman also achieve a healthier weight.

"I however, do have little patience for pseudo intellect, revisionism, and unmitigated bullshit being repeated with conviction in hopes it will somehow become truth "

Of this, you are equally guilty.
