Last Thursday, Republicans boycotted the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, thereby preventing a vote on the nomination of Gina McCarthy to lead the EPA. Ms. McCarthy, who was easily confirmed by the Senate to her current position as chief of the EPA’s clean air division, previously served as a top state environmental official under Republican governors in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. Competent and well qualified, she’s an obvious choice to lead the agency.

Still, Republicans unhappy about the administration’s policies to limit greenhouse-gas emissions and other pollutants — “job-killing regulations,” in GOP parlance — demanded she submit answers to more than 1,000 questions, then deemed her answers inadequate. The deluge may be a record for a Cabinet appointee; more than 650 were submitted just by Sen. David Vitter (R-La.).

Washington Post, Editorial Board

IT’S NO SURPRISE that Senate Republicans grouse about Obama administration policies on enforcing civil rights laws or limiting greenhouse-gas emissions. They are entitled to their policy views.

It’s a different matter for Republican leaders to manifest their views by blocking confirmation to Cabinet positions of the officials in charge of those policies. By doing so, on absurdly flimsy pretexts, Republicans not only impede the president’s nominations for labor secretary and chief of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but also undermine the normal flow of government, upon which presidents of both parties have depended. They help to subvert whatever is left of Americans’ faith in government. And they may give frustrated Democrats an excuse to rewrite Senate rules in a way that both parties will have cause to regret.

The Republican Party is currently both the biggest threat to America and the biggest threat to the world.

and from (quite possibly )the dumbest bitch on earth:

At a prayer rally at the U.S. Capital on Wednesday, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., told fellow lawmakers that America has “seen God’s judgment” through the terrorist attack that killed 3,000 people in 2001 and the siege on the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, that occurred last year.

Bachmann said it’s no secret that our nation is “experiencing the hand of judgment” and that America may be in a time of decline. The solution, she said, is “humbling ourselves before an almighty God.”

“Our nation has seen judgment not once but twice on September 11,” Bachmann said Wednesday. “That’s why we’re going to have ‘9/11 Pray’ on that day. Is there anything better that we can do on that day rather than to humble ourselves and to pray to an almighty God?”

thn:

I won't have to pass anything out... It is happening, and the only people making any threats of violence are the tea party members calling for 2nd amendment solutions.

Why do these overweight and aging people who destroyed this nation do this? Because they are old and scared of change, change they started when they allowed their short sighted greed to override reason and forward thinking of this nations future generations.

Allowing outsourcing destroyed our economy and made it dependent upon gambling. (the stock market.)

Making an excessively large military and doing shit with it had destroyed our faith in the usefulness of a military.

Calling for real public servants (teachers, emergency services, road crews, prison guards, ect...) to take pay cuts, but not the industrial and economic leaders of this nation, has shown my generation how blind your generation is.

I won't need to pass out a damned thing, they will vote the republicans out over time.

Mark...as you know, none of those comments were made in direct reference to Benghazi, and as you also know, they were part of statements listing possibilities, and all equivocated by a clear message that the final answers were unknown, which they were

You guys are just letting the media spin you into a frenzy. The 100%, complete truth requires National Secrets to be exposed. Anybody in this room know what their mission REALLY WAS there? Was it a weapon depot? Working with spies? When you work overseas, especially in war zones, you're exposed to serious danger every day. Those ppl know what they signed up for -- just like military that didn't want to deploy to Iraq and Afghan.

The government can only release so much info. Why are you guys still harping on this. You're just repeating what info and mis-info is being released. By the way, none of the Repub cheerleaders have yet to find a Repub that has been in the news recently for messing up or caught with their hand in the cookie jar?
