vacp:

Please reread what I wrote.

I said for those living with mentally ill people. (case in point sandy hook) you can retain you right to the weapons, but you must store them someplace other than your home.

I then put forth government armories as an example of such storage places for those who do not want to store them in their homes or must store them someplace other than their homes.

So I create a problem for the gun owner, then provide a solution which retains their legal rights to own fire arms and keep society safer at the same time.

If you on the right want to retain your rights to fire arms, you must learn to make deals, you must learn to change or change will be forced upon you. Either you can have smaller changes and lose less, possibly in time regain your full rights or you can attempt to make no changes, lose more and likely not regain anything over time.

The choice is yours, but you so far have made no attempts to meet anywhere in the middle of anything.

Robert, if the weapons are stored with the government that is the first step in confiscation. The government then has the control over them at all times. All they need to do then is keep the place locked up and they have disarmed an entire country. No thanks I will keep mine in my own safe.

Yet so many on the left keep calling me a radical? Why? Because i don't support bans? Because I don't support or provide sympathy to radical Islamics and those who empower them through failing to act to prevent such radicals from gaining power?

I don't care who you could sell weapons to or not. As for data on weapons... I agree, we don't have enough data which is easily available.

I ought to be able to go to the FBI/DOJ and ask. Numbers of gun crimes in the US. Refine the search to specific types and then specific weapons.

As for sales of weapons, again. I agree, you ought not be allowed to buy a weapon form anyone in any manner of sale without a background check and a mental fitness examination...

Alternatively a system which has you on a data base which states if you are allowed to have weapons or not. This data base would be subject to your mental fitness, and the fitness of those where you intent to store the weapons.

This means if you have a mentally challenged person living with you, you might not be able to store the weapons in the home. (I support storage of the private citizens weapons in state/federal armories.)

To me, this is reasonable gun control.

Now if we could cross reference that with total legal gun sales by type and modle we would have some stats we could sink out teeth into. I can tell you that in my gun running days i couldn't GIVE revolvers away except among one particular group...let me see if you can guess which one that might be.

This is the closest I could come to finding the data you requested. If you can find better, i would love to read it.

This post isn't exactly what you were looking for, but I found it interesting and relating to the debate over fire arm control.

Another interesting link, but not the one on assault rifles vs hand guns.

With how difficult it is to find the data you seek and this link here seems to support my theory about the issue not being gun violence, but violence itself. ht tp://ww w.huffingtonpost.c om/2012/12/20/us-guns-statistics-outlier_n_2331892.ht ml

This would be in my view born from our dog eat dog world view. Most every nation we are compared to (our peers in the world community based upon being a first world nation) are all more socialist, where by the people are better provided for... Or at the least are perceived to be better provided for.

Remember that perception is always a key factor in controlling people and their actions.

I find it interesting that the number of mass shootings are higher during bad economic times, I think this supports my assertion that dog eat dog and a damaged society affects rates of violence.

A doj finding that the jury is still out on the 94 assault weapon ban.

PP get real ask a question with some merit. There is over 1.2 million Title II weapons owned. (Class 3). Better question how many people with concealed weapon permits have committed mass shootings???
