“Why weren't these people able to protect themselves with their firearms?”

From what I recall, Hasse was walking to the courthouse. I’m unsure of the laws in TX, but in most states it is illegal to carry a firearm into a courthouse. I’d guess he was unarmed because he was walking into court. A bit difficult to protect yourself with a firearm when you don’t have it on you when you need it.

The couple referenced in the OP- I haven’t seen a report indicating the exact details about the killings, so I have no idea about whether either had a firearm in their immediate possession when they were ambushed. I say ambushed because the news stories appear to convey that type of attack.

Regarding the WV sheriff, sitting in your car at lunch and having someone walk up to you, presumably from behind, and shoot you in the head doesn’t allow time for reaction.

From ABC News…

“A West Virginia sheriff with a reputation for cracking down on drug dealers was shot in the head at point blank range and killed outside a county courthouse today, officials and witnesses said. Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle during his lunch break in the town of Williamson, state Delegate Harry Keith White told ABC News.

A witness told ABC News that he watched the suspect approach Crum's car, where he was known to eat lunch, and fire twice into the vehicle. The suspect then calmly walked to his truck, described as a tan Ford ranger, and drove away. …“

Can you imagine what would be happening if the suspected killers were Muslims?

As soonas Our Lawmakers Start putting Shit bags connected with such heinous crimes 6 feet under the grass the grows above thier graves... Anything less is just feel good politicizing.

To say we need Laws restricting ownership of firearms, when It is NOT the Law abiding firearm owner using the Firearm illegally. It is not The Law abiding citizen stealing the firearms either....

Put the shitbags that cannot live by the laws of this land in cages or in the dirt , then you will see how your quality of life will change for the better

Founder of the AB was a democrat. AB is made of criminals and studies have shown that criminals associate themselves as liberals.

I am 100% in favor of declaring certain domestic groups "terrorist groups" and treating them as such. They are within the jurisdiction of the US so they are entitled to due process, so they can see the terror in their ways and either stand down or turn themselves in any time. However, when their is imminent danger to human life and in some cases even property, law enforcement and the national guard have the right to use preemptive lethal force. Lest start with Aryan nations and Posse Comitatus on one end of the spectrum and the JDL and the American Likud on the other, and I am betting the wannabes in between close down their shops

"Well Robert the due process that most Taliban get is a drone strike or a bullet to the head."

That is because they aren't within the confines of US soil, where we can control most every part of the situation... Let alone our own civilians won't turn against our soldiers like they do in Afghanistan or other locations where we fight the Taliban.

If the Aryan brotherhood decide to resist, then a bullet to end them is the appropriate response law enforcement ought to give, as at that moment the Aryans chose death as their fate.

USA PATRIOT Act, acts of domestic terrorism are those which: " involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; appear to be intended— to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States."

As you see this is a very open ended definition and can be used to suit their purpose.

Actually that is very closed ended as it lay's out specific requirements for the motivations of their actions which are to destabilize or under-mind the government.

They have used this to classify several groups that have never done violence or killed anyone but have only stated their opposition to the government. You can look the groups up for yourself it won't take you long to find them. Use government website to make sure you get the right groups. Google gives a lot of BS.

When you want to speak, you draw attention to yourself.... You will be watched.

As of yet, the US government hasn't rounded these groups up, hasn't denied them their freedom of movement or other freedoms such as the right to free speech or privacy beyond what the law allows the government to listen to.

If you don't like the law, get with your buddies and change it through political action.

Of course you must first gain political power to do this and given that you are so cold shouldered to the needs of the people, you aren't going to get many who will vote for your candidates... Not nearly enough of the US population which it will take to make the changes you want.

Well Robert the due process that most Taliban get is a drone strike or a bullet to the head.So is this the type of due process you want handed out to your fellow american.Be careful of what you wish for. The government can class any group of people they want as domestic terrorist with a stroke of a pen.
