We lived in Canada. Our rent was $800 a month, and heat in the winter could easily be $400 a month. Plus, 15% sales tax, just about everything more expensive etc. I'm not getting into a "poverty wars" discussion. I just mean it really wasn't a whole lot o' moolah. |

Shoot vabeachcouple33, that was living large for 1999! 1986... married and baby same year... I didn't work, $9998 income. Of course rent was only 322 a month brand new 2 bedroom townhomes in Goose Creek SC! I used a lot of coupons for grocery shopping!

There is way more to being happy that providing 35k a year, Robert.

Actually I missed your comment, and no it wasn't given the context that I was young and already admitted to the foolishness of trying to protect her innocence of the reality of the world. That said, it worked out for the best. She is from all accounts happily married and I have failed to provide a standard of living at 35k or better. |

I will address you sense out of everyone here, you actually gave me a real reply and not a personal attack. Which I thank you for being more mature than the majority of the posters here. Sadly she is married and from all accounts happily so. It sucks, but that is the fish that got away and if she is happy, then so be it. As I am not in a position to provide for anyone let alone myself to such a degree as to have securely a home (rent or own) let alone provide a living wage (Something + 35k) There is no happiness that which such an attempt could bring to anyone involved. |
