User Details are only visible to members.	I love all your stories! Our first "meet" was at a military Christmas party. I actually went w/ my best friend, female, on a whim last minute, as I was her back up person if she didn't have a date. D went b/c he felt pressured to, as he'd just retired and was working there. We met, no strings, we all went to a local bar b/c the party was boring. I was still legally married and living with a "rescuer" type older man, so I was quite open and told D all my baggage, history, etc. He said, "I can handle that." And he can. And does. And will. I wasn't looking for anyone. D, at age 39 at the time, had never married, and he had pretty much given up on the thought of marriage. Perpetual single guy. So we talked, kissed, flirted (he still owes me a pair of black nylons that somehow got "ripped" that night...). I rode w/ him in his car to Denny's or someplace like that after bar closed, and we made out a bit in his car. He said that night that it was so great to finally meet a beautiful woman who was intelligent and who he could have an intelligent conversation with. We met up a few times, had incredible sex, and vowed we would at least remain friends, no matter where life took us. Life moved me away from VA and I lived in two other states and went through hell, got on my own two feet, got divorced, went back to college, etc etc, worked 4 jobs at a time and went to school full time, and made it. Then one day, two years later (we had sort of kept in touch here and there), he said, "When you gonna come see me?" and we planned a visit. We knew, without really dating at all, that we were meant for each other. So, we're a bit backwards. We got engaged, I went back to the state where I was living at the time, and 6 months later he came and hauled me to VA. We got married, and NOW we date:) he's a good man. And he's a good man for me. I didn't know it right away, but every day of our 8 year marriage I've become more and more secure in the fact that he loves me, I love him, and that we have something solid and great. When we saw each other in VA, and were saying goodbye as I moved to deal with ex stuff, I had his garage door opener (I had gone over to set up for a Superbowl party while he was at work one day). I started to hand it back to him, and he said, "no. You keep it. I want you to know that wherever you are, wherever you go, if you need a place to come to, you have a home here anytime you need one." That stupid garage door opener was sometimes my only hope in some very dark moments. I still have it. It's a treasure to me. I didn't want to "need" anyone. I wanted to be able to choose who to love. And I'm so glad we chose each other.

User Details are only visible to members.	wow, that sounds like Jay and I. We met on December 10th, were engaged on May 18th and married on June 5th. When I think about the fact that we went from met to married in less than 6 months I tell him what the FUCK was wrong with us lol. But we have been married for 21 years. We were the exception to the rule though.

I was broke and I can't remember why but I had some kind of issues with my shoes at a gas station (!?!?!) and hit an ATM to deal with it. I know that sounds bizarre but it happened. We spent the whole night running away from thunderstorms, including about 1 hour on the pier at Lakeside Park (the same Lakeside Park the Rush song is named for) before being chased away by lightning. At the end of the night, we ended up naked. It was May 20. We still "celebrate" it ever year.

User Details are only visible to members.	we knew each other for 18 years,we lived on the same street 5 houses apart,before I asked her out.Our first date was dinner and a movie,we had 3 hours to kill between the end of dinner and the start of the movie,we drove around and talked the whole time.At the end of the evening we agreed she would choose our next date.She chose a comedy club,I realized she laughed at all the same things I was laughing at and that's how I knew I was going to marry her.5 months later I asked her to marry me,this year will be 15 years we have been married and together for 16...

The plans got a bit confused, and I thought he had blown me off, so I made plans to go dancing with a friend and her guy. Cute guy wound up emailing to ask if we could still meet, so I asked him to join us for a night of dancing, to which he said yes. He asked how to recognize me at the club, so I described my friends as she is blond and adorable, and her BF was tall and handsome. I also used their names. All communication ceased, and I was trying to figure out how I had already screwed up my first date without even having met the dood. Ten minutes later my girlfriend was on the phone, giggling, "OMG, I KNOW the guy that is meeting you tonight, he and I were good friends back in________. You are going to LOVE him! Turns out they had been in the same group of friends when they were married(to other people) before my GF moved to my town! He had called her a few times to ask if she had any nice single friends, but at the time I was dating someone else, and he and I are so different that I doubt she would have fixed us up anyway. Somehow, though, it has worked out very well. But what a small world...... or at the least, state.
