I just finished "A Dance With Dragons" by George R.R. Martin. The series is great fantasy fiction, but he keeps adding new characters and plot lines when his fans are ready for the conclusion.

I'm not fond of reading on backlit screens. I do like the kindle cases with the built in light, that is what I have although the Kindle fire is sort of tempting... The kindles as much as I like to encourage reading will be like the DS's and have to stay on a shelf in the living room at bed time. My youngest is a night owl and would never go to sleep lol.

how old is your son? my girls are 7 and 9 seems to be a good amount of books out there for them. And the new kindles are less then 80 so not horrible in price. My youngest left her DS out in the rain last year but I think she learned her lesson.
