A very good movie was made of The Handmaid's Tale; Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, Aidan Quinn and Robert Duvall were in it. I'm still reading 2666 - very good, but quite the tome.

I love Margaret Atwood. Try The Blind Assasin.

Also all bibliophiles, look at Bookmarks mag. Very fun to read for those lovers of reading!

I just finished "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. It's an interesting though disturbing projection of a future U.S. overrun by a misogynistic regime. One of my kids recommended it to me.

Black House was the first gift my hubby ever bought me right after we met.

Reading Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs before we go see the movie, John Carter.

While on our vacation I read "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" by Stieg Larrson (last book in the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy), then we saw the Dragon Tattoo movie in the discount theater.

Thanks for the additional info about Dunces! I guess I did not realize that Percy was a novelist also - I'll have to look into his works. And neat that you have a family connection to him.

I will start 2666 by Roberto Bolano today.

Reading The Last Juror, John Grisham, and wouldn't you know? I got a summons for jury duty today in the mail.

Just started We're With Nobody, an account of the kind of oppo research that goes on behind the scenes in political campaigns. The first four chapters are exceptionally well written, and interesting to someone like me.

Funny coincidence. I saw the authors on The Daily Show last week, then received a copy of the book over the weekend from my dad after he saw it while bookstore browsing.
