I'm a memoir fan, but right now I'm re-reading a book I read when i was 13: Flowers For Algernon. Got it b/c my husband had never read it. And just finished Tim Gunn's book about Making It Work, Gunn's Golden Rules. And a graphic novel, last in a series by a friend, the book is called NOVA, and his artwork is fun. I'm also finally going through Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels, have finished 2 so far and they are a very fast, easy, light read.

I could probably list favorite authors more easily than I can book titles.

Just picked up a book by Joan Detz called....It's Not What You Say, It's How You Say It. George Eliott an english novelist wrote...."Blessed is the man who, haveing nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact."

Seems he was thinking of some SLS members along with a lot of other people, like talk show hosts who have to talk when the phone lines are'nt lit up.

This will be my first time reading his work! I traditionally stay away from novels...but working in the medical insurance field on the AR side...I am thinking it will definately hold my attention.

I started reading Painted House when it first came out serialized in the Oxford American, but then missed a couple of issues and never got back to it.

I don't read much fiction anyway, and when I do I prefer short stories and poetry to novels. Somewhere I've got a couple of short stories John wrote long ago and sent to me, but which he has never published as far as I know. One is hilarious, about an old Baptist deacon who had to take a urine test when the church went overboard in whipping its deacons into line.

Kat, I had to smile when I read your post... Just last night I was bored and flipping through the channels and ended up finding To Kill a Mockingbird. Then while watching it I was looking for a book to download to my iPad and ended up downloading Grisham's A Painted House which was one of my favorites!
