I enjoyed Poisonwood Bible, too, and agree that the ending should have been redone. What was her editor thinking?!

I love Kingsolver, (especially Animal, Vegetable, Miracle - non fiction, I know!), but I hated the end of the Poisonwood Bible. I thought it wrapped up too quickly and it felt incomplete and rushed to me.

Hey - when are we doing Chopin? I have to admit that SLS and blogs have taken up too much of my reading time - I need to change my habits!

Going to take some lazy time tomorrow to read.

I adore Atwood as well. I was re-reading Kate Chopin's short stories but switched off to re-read Barbara Kingsolver's Bean Trees. Kingsolver is near and dear to me as she is an alum of my college. Some of her stuff reminds me of Atwood.

P.S. I concur - The Blind Assassin was great!

A very good movie was made of The Handmaid's Tale; Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, Aidan Quinn and Robert Duvall were in it. I'm still reading 2666 - very good, but quite the tome.
