Poutine (french fries with gravy and cheese curds) has been a staple of much of eastern Canada for decades. You can even get it at Burger King in some places.

Curds decline rapidly in quality and are only good for about a day after manufacture, so they are generally only available in places with a significant cheesemaking industry, such as Ontario/Quebec, Vermont, or Wisconsin. Probably not common in Nevada.

Oh, and VA...by "new trend" I meant a new trend in naming food items in their most basic form, regardless of how unappetizing the description.

Kat, for some reason, cheese cuffs actually seems more appropriate here.

Well, Mr. VA, you are just busting on me left and right, lol. I've never seen cheese cuffs advertised on a menu until a year ago. We go to some very fine restaurants, always checking out new places, too. So, you've seen this as an appetizer all the way back then?

"Cheese curds" is not a new term at all. I was eating cheese curds as part of poutine 20 years ago. Cheese curds are an intermediate stage in cheese making.

Kind of like "wort" is an intermediate in beer making....

The whole "clotted cream" thing...I'm all for "precision of language," a la the Giver, but Idk. Fluffy cream sounds a lot better. Dairy Queen is advertising "cheese curds." Is this a new trend?
