Re: chickun

I do find the vegetarian names of faux meats to be amusing. My inlaws call the fake hot dogs "not dogs".

We've come to create portmanteaus of the word "fake" with other things that are somehow not in their traditional state, such as "facon", "focolate" (sugar-free chocolate), "funny" (flavored maltitol syrup that closely approximates honey), etc. It's meant to be amusing and nothing more.

I can't think of a good one for the vegan cheese you mentioned though.

Wishing you wee back in Nola too. Next time I'll cook you my gumbo.

Tonight it's some sort of chickun noodle soup I'm making. All I can manage with a busted paw and with little groceries in the house.

Wishing we were back on NOLA, so cooked some cajun catfish filets with peppers and onions over gouda grits. Yummy.
