If you want to see the taste difference of an item made with Sugar vs high fructose corn syrup. Buy soda that has been made for passover ( locally pepsi and coke Brands) will proccess them for a short time with sugar and there is a deifinite taste difference . Some people will think the sugar tastes odd because they are tricked into desiring the corn syrup.

Read up on how our bodies do not digest that as well.

I can Say that many Vegetable that are processed this time of year are quite long way from being RIPE. I had a relative who had a processing plant for tomatoes (years ago) and they used to harves Green tomatoes, at a certain size. they were washed and sorted and then as they were packaged they were gassed. and as you watched them roll along you could see before your eyes the transformation. This process is still used today and year round. since a vine ripend tomato has such a shoort shelf life. don't get me going on the bagged lettuce or Such processed items . typically by the time those items hit the market they are actually @ a week past what they should have rotted by. Ever wonder what the gas the items are packaged with???

My hubby uses a brand called Florida sugar crystals. It is raw sugar so it is brown. He says it has a maple flavor, to it.

If we can not use real sugar we will go without. I do not trust any new sweetener that is put out. Funny, when you start going without it, you learn not to miss it.

We use mostly stevia. It is sweeter than regular sugar. Healthier and will not spike blood sugars.

Q) Can Stevia replace artificial sweeteners in the diet?

A) Yes! I do not believe that humans should consume anything artificial in their diets. Stevia offers a safe, all-natural, alternative to these "toxic time-bombs." And industrial usage in Japan proves that this substitution is both practical and economical.

Q) How many calories are in Stevia?

A) Virtually none. And the refined Stevia extracts are considered to be non-caloric.

Q) Will Stevia raise my blood sugar levels?

A) Not at all. In fact, according to some research, it may actually lower blood sugar levels. However, this research has yet to be confirmed and contradictory results make any conclusions premature.

Q) Can I use Stevia if I am diabetic?

A) Diabetes is a medical condition which should be monitored and treated by a qualified physician or health care practitioner. However, Stevia can be a part of a healthy diet for anyone with blood sugar problems since it does not raise blood sugar levels. If in doubt, ask your doctor.
