Oven roasted Venison Loin w/ Garlic Mushroom cream sauce with steamed vegetables on the side. Would love to have our favorite Hot Rolls too, but we've cut out almost all our carb intake.

Dinner tonight is homemade gefilte fish (fish loaf) with wild chanterelle, spring coccora and anamita vaginata mushrooms mixed in.

Took a walk at lunch and picked the mushrooms.

Va the Indians where stone age people before the Europeans showed up. They had no horses, stone tipped arrows.

Pretty much the only way to kill those animals was to drive them off a cliff. Just think how many people died trying to stampede a herd of buffalo in any one direction.

Yeah the Indians would run herds of buffalo off the cliff and collect them at the bottom. Pretty smart actually. Do you have a more efficient way to kill 300 animals the size of small cars, pre-machine gun?

OK, I just had to look into that one. Apparently that is the name given to one of the places Indians (First Nations?) would stampede buffalo off of to kill them back in the day. Named because some not so bright Indian decided it would be a good idea to stand near the bottom and watch the buffalo fall off the cliff. The falling buffalo apparently smashed his head in.

FF (that I just made up): The name "Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump" won out over "Buffalo-Theory-Ensures-Only-Smart-Braves-Breed", thereby leaving "Buffalo Theory" available for Cliff Clavin to use later when explaining his theory of intelligence.

ISOI remember when Bison were almost extinct.

Ok. No I'm not.

Fun fact: there is a place in Alberta named Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.
